The week has went by so slowly but at least the General has been a joy to use this week. Approaching 30 shaves with the razor my technique has improved a great deal. I went with a 2 pass shave with a XTG followed by ATG pass paying particular attention to my trouble spots. It did require more touch ups than a 3 pass shave but the end results were the same. At some point I will give the Feather Super Pro another try in the General. I hope everyone has a great Thursday.

    Stirling Synthetic Brush
    Route 66 Ghost Town
    Feather Stainless (pass 1)
    Schick Type E3 (pass 2)
    Stirling Unscented PSB
    Adidas Dynamic Pulse AS

My small attempt at MAYhem worked out to be shaving with a bare blade. I chose the Feather Stainless and made one pass with no razor, just pinching the blade between two fingers. I had a couple of small weepers and some irritation, but made it through a pass. I didn't have to to contort myself into position for an ATG, so I pulled out the E3 for pass 2. It went better than expected, but I likely won't do it again. I hope everyone has a great day.

Also, just a pic so that it happened.

    Blade: GEM Stainless
    Razor: GEM Featherweight
    Brush: JR #60 synthetic
    Lather: Ginger's Garden Salty Mariner
Post: Witch hazel, Fine Platinum aftershave
    WTG, touch-up

Nice and easy shave with the Featherweight and Ginger's Garden Salty Mariner soap. Smooth and comfortable per usual. Fine Platinum finished it all off nicely. The Featherweight does a superb job.

    Have a great day!

Seventh shave in! I really feel like I nailed the lather this morning. Pretty sure I did it too thick the last couple days because today was nice and easy. I also tried lathering it a little in the bowl as opposed to just my face. Didn't clog up the razor as much and just glided a lot easier. Still just a little sting here and there with the alum but not bad. Happy shaving everyone!

That sucks, man. Hope you get it back soon.

This is sort of like the "going commando" of shaving. There has to be a Shavy award in there, especially with a Feather, right @BaylorGator?

When I put that comment with a certain shave pic I had this month, I have a bit of a theme going on for the month.

    25 May 2017 Blade/Soap Focus
    Shave

Today I continue with the Caribbean theme. Used Catie's Bubbles "Barnegat Bay" soap for this morning's shave. JR#161 whipped it up into a very nice slick great smelling lather. The Super Speed/Voskhod partnership again did away with my workweek stubble no problem. 2.5 pass BBS. A splash of VIBR and away to work we go. It's raining cats & dogs here in Central NJ and I'm checking in containers this morning. We've got twelve due in. Sucks to be me.

From today's shave, I found that my Wind Drift by English Leather works well with the Wet Shaving Products Rustic Sandalwood soap. I think the Sandalwood aftershave will be the first of the winter aftershaves to run out, so I'm glad I can now rotate that with the EL Wind Drift in order to keep it(Sandalwood)around a little ,more.

Changed up the Injector this morning to an E3 with a Personna blade (thanks @Screwtape). Whipped up a great lather with the Gin and Tonic and went to town with the E3. I've often seen that this is considered an aggressive Injector, and I probably didn't give it enough respect this morning. Went too quickly. I have 3 weepers on my jawline and neck. All 3 were courageous enough to outlast the Witch Hazel and balm and needed the Styptic. My neck was also a bit irritated from the day before from going truly ATG on it -and I added to it today- so that didn't help. 3 passes to a pink DFS.
    Have a great day all!

Wow, Jim. Not only shaving with a bare blade, but using a feather for it. Got to be a Shavy Award nomination or two in there...

May 25 - Yum! Pumpkin Pie!!!

    Merkur 34C
    Sharp Star Platinum (day 1)
    Dark Chocolate (JR #148) brush
    DIY PSO
    Stirling Pumpkin Spice
    Alum/Thayers/ AOS PSB

today my daughter got to pick the shave soap from what was left to try and she selected Stirling's Pumpkin Spice. Since you cannot eat pumpkin pie cold, I prepped the new scuttle and boy was it delicious!!! My daughter could not stop begging me to get her a bath bar or just get a tub to shave with. She is 9 but loves to lather her face and wash with my lather and pretend with her finger she is shaving. I will admit that it is very different from anything else I have tried before and loved the change. My homemade pumpkin pie recipe has 3 spices, nutmeg, cinnamon and ginger. The site indicates this soap has the following scents, 'A seasonal blend of pumpkin, all spice, ginger, and nutmeg.' Yeah, I think I can smell all of them and might need to adjust MY pumpkin pie recipe to match!!! Just might need to look for this one comes the fall.

Sharp star blade and this thick deliciously scented lather resulted in a 3 pass BBS. No touch up needed. I found it rather quiet in shaving, smooth and among the sharper type of blade. My facial hair seems to need a rather sharp blade to do XTG and ATG well. Alum had a light bite to it and dulled quickly. Nice blade overall. Will need to see how it progresses but based on today, this will be added to my list of good blades for me.

If you love fall and pumpkin pie, definitely be on the look out for Stirling Pumpkin Spice comes this fall!!
