Alum and Supply Provision Juniper Post Shave Balm

I haven't shaved with an injector in awhile, so I decided to finish out this the month with the Supply Provision Single Edge. I originally used it on the Mild plate but switched up to the Two Dot one. Then I decided to make it an SP Everything day except for the soap.

The frankensoap provided its usual excellent lather after a quick loading of the damp synthetic brush. I trickled water into the lather bowl until I got the level of runniness I wanted.

The Single Edge (version 1.0 - I probably won't get V2.0 even though the black is rather neat) mowed my stubble down quickly and efficiently. Once you figure out the right angle, this razor works beautifully. I was remembering how I got several weepers when I used to use it and congratulating myself on my vastly improved technique when Snick! Blood on my upper lip. On one of the last strokes of my shave too.

It wasn't much of a weeper - the cold water rinse removed it and the alum rub sealed it permanently - but it was a reminder not to be so complacent, especially with injectors. Alum was pretty warm in a few other spots too. I used a balm because I actually needed one today.

It's been a couple months since my last weeper. In fact, I don’t think I've had one since I PIFed my Fendrihan Scientist to Frank @Fly2High. Way to go, breaking the winning streak, John!

I was contacted by a member who informed me that my Secret Santa found out that I had to pay duty and custom fees as a result of the method he chose to ship my Secret Santa gift. To me it was no big deal, to him it was. I went to the mail box today and found an amazing PIF of B&M Latha Oceana Soap, Reef Point Command Presence Balm, and a bottle of Lucky Tiger aftershave.

I am very thankful for these gifts. They worked perfectly for tonight's shave.

Went outside the box a bit today.
The razor: Gillete Old Type Open Comb
The blade: Sputnik
The cream(s): Mixed Godrej cream with Kiss My Face Lavender Moisture Shave Cream
The brush: Maggard Plissoft 24
Aftercare: Alum, Stirling Unscented Shave Balm, Florida Water

I don't pull this razor out too often, and I don't know why. Maybe because it's a beat up Frankenrazor, but every time I use it I decide that I should use it more often (and then don't, again). The soap mixture was largely because I couldn't decide, and partly because I don't like lavender so much on its own. But man, a pea size drop of each on a lightly wet brush, and I had lather for DAYS. It was good lather, too. And the scent of the two soaps really were complimentary. So much so that I liked the combo better than either on its own. And I like the scent of Godrej. This made for a great summer scent that I will be utilizing often, and the Florida Water was the perfect follow-up.
