Woo hop back at it 7 for 7 irritation free shaves I feel like I'm getting the hang of it. I think might start switching out software next week with the same hardware and the focus still being on angle and no irritation. Sent from my XT1609 using Tapatalk
May 26 (Friday ) - kept humble Supply Provision Single Edge stainless injector on plate 2 / Personna (2) Omega B+B Essential Boar The Red Green Duct Tape Special frankensoap Alum and Supply Provision Lost Provence (lavender and blue sage) Healing Balm Styptic pencil The Italian almond frankensoap gave me its usual superb lather, ably aided and abetted by the Omega boar brush. Didn't save my face though. The Supply Provision injector ensured I stayed humble today by giving me a small nick on my lower lip to match yesterday's weeper on my upper lip, which it also reopened. Both survived the cold water rinse and the rather sparkly alum rub. I had to dig out the styptic pencil to finally shut them up. After the shave, I switched baseplates on the razor, dropping back down to the One-Dot (mild) plate again. I still intend to finish out the month using this razor but will try it down a notch again tomorrow and see what difference that makes. At least I am a near BBS today, and the Lost Provence balm has a great scent and leaves a good skin feeling. Hope everyone has a good Friday and a great weekend, especially you Americans heading into a long holiday one. (For us Canadians, the May long weekend was last week.)
May we all learn some humility daily. I envy your Easter Monday. It's printed on our work calendars and every year I wish it would stop rubbing it in.
Thank you! I think shaving everyday during the week has really helped a lot. I'm taking tomorrow off and retired the blade after this morning's shave. Figure play it safe after 6 shaves.
Here's a review of my Fields&Streams soaop by Local Gent Shaving Co:: With just 2 shaves in so far, it already looks like it's been as overworked as my Stirling(Barbershop), which says a lot. I'm almost satisfied enough with just one pass, but I do the second anyway. Wonderful dolphin-like face-feel. I think this soap can work with any type of aftershave, with the exception of Clubman and Leather. But that's fine, as this is a spring/summer scent anyway. I used the Avon 4 Men Tribute today-great combo. I'm real happy with Fields&Streams, and may well buy another one from Local Gent. I do have to say, however, that I don't care some of the videos from their site, describing the various scents. They tend to get a little carried away with their...er...expletives. But that comes from me-a grandson of a Presbyterian Minister(who died before I was born). Anyway-I'd give this an A overall.
Good morning. I decided to slip another MAYhem shave in before the end of the month. I found a paint scraper blade holder in the garage last night and decided to give it a spin. I put a fresh GEM blade in it, lathered up with some Arko and did the first pass. The angle was a little difficult to control, but I managed a first pass without cutting myself. I also managed not to remove much in the way of whiskers, this thing didn’t do much better than the Sayuri earlier in the month. It’s a great lather scraper, but not so good as a razor. I started a second pass and realize that I was never going to get a DFS this way. I reached for my Mongoose and did a cleanup pass for a DFS. This may be my last MAYhem effort, as I’m running out of ideas. MAYhem SOTD Arko Shave Stick Wolf Whiskers Brush Paint Scraper GEM Blade Mongoose with Feather Pro Lucky Tiger Pinaud Clubman After Shave Happy Friday!
May 26 - The end of the new to me Stirling Soaps Merkur 34C Sharp Star Platinum (Day 2) 23 mm AOS Pure Badger DIY PSO Stirling Gentleman Alum/Thayers/AOS PSB Today's soap was a sample from the pass around box. It is the last soap in my possession from Stirling that I have yet to try. Today rectified this! The posted scent is 'A warm and masculine blend of Tobacco, Vanilla, Amber, and Musk'. It was a rich and definitely masculine scent but for some reason I believe I am not a fan of tobacco scents and it did not thrill me. I found the scent good and certainly not offensive. It just wasn't a scent I love or might love. I have never smoked and never liked the smell of tobacco even though I grew up with lots of family members who did. It just wasn't a scent I enjoy. The lather was very cushiony and slick. Sharp Star was draggier today than yesterday, especially on the XTG and ATG passes. I needed 3.5 passes to get the BBS. Alum did sting a bit but quieted quickly. Blade must be showing some wear since today I felt I needed more of a buffing stroke on the last pass and touch ups. Blade , I feel still is a good blade but I think I just need sharper still to get more days out of it. I think it will be a upper echelon blade and will go in my preferred list. Let's see how day 3 goes... Have an enjoyable Memorial Day. Thank you to those who gave their lives in order to safeguard our freedom. Thank you to those who currently serve and are willing to give their lives as well.
Razor: Portland Razor Co Chimera / Supply Provision Custom 3 dot head Blade: Chick Strop: Drygulch 45 Brush Handle: B-400 The Brush by Tom Knot: APShaveCo Tuxedo Soap: B&M Baudelaire Post Care: Thayers Witch Hazel Alum Osage Rub Aftershave: B&M Baudelaire Fantastic shave this morning. The scent from this combo is wonderful; more floral than I typically like but it has a pleasant dry down. It has great performance and is a nice change of pace for me. I'm getting better with the Chimera, doing ATG passes now. Three passes today and a DFS was the result. Have a great day folks!
I use Lucky Tiger most days. The scent is light, and doesn't last, so it rarely interferes. I like the feel of Lucky Tiger.

Andrew, I've actually been using the SE for the first pass to knock down the major growth. I use the straight for the 2nd and 3rd pass
That's a different approach. Why not just go all 3 passes with the straight then? I'm sure it's up to the change, lol. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
