It's not just flying, it's going anywhere. I now have to be conscious of whether or not I've got a pocket knife or even multitool on me. I've run back to the car more then once to drop it off because I'm not sure how it would be received.

One of the problems I am finding that I have with straight shaving is that when something is wrong with a razor, like the Torrey from my last shave, it bugs the hell out of me until I make it right. So I spent quite a little time on it this morning, re-working the bevel and taking it all the way up. It rewarded me with a very nice, smooth shave, and I can quit thinking about it now.

I wish I could keep the rest of my life in such good order. The world could be coming down around my ears, but at least my den will be in good order. I have issues.

Beautiful set up. Do you do anything different using a synthetic as compared to other brushes?

Cool. I was courious if a short stroke technique on a heavy beard worked best.

Solid kit. How vintage is the Williams? Safe travels.

Damn the torpedoes...ignore the nukes... I gotta good shave this morning...... That is how the world runs..oh and Coffee...that helps too!

Thank you. For synthetic brushes I wet the knot very good and shake out the excess. Then I load and lather as normal dipping the tips in water as lather.

9th shave after taking Saturday off. Two passes of WTG and XTG and some touch up under the jaw. It was a very refreshing shave after a nice PM shower to wash off everything after a beautiful day of yard work and building a trellis for the hops at my soon to be home. The amazing part was, with a fresh blade no less, I had zero burn from my alum...none! A fantastic end to a fantastic day.

Have a great Memorial Day and happy shaving!

No idea on the stick. Maybe 1960s or 1970s. @RyX sent it to me as part of a deal we did last year.

May is coming to a close... hard to believe. For us government types, the fiscal year is more then half over. So I hadn't shaved since Wednesday, so I had three good days worth of stubble on my face, and I was looking scruffy.

Sammy Soap won this round 4-0, I could never get a lather to stick around. But there was still slickness. So not giving up on it, but it goes back into the tub and time to bring a new contender to the forefront. And for that it was Dr. Jon's Conquest. Don't bother asking me about scent. Dr. Jon's makes some good soaps, and I've never had a problem with lathering. Plus, the sample size gives you more then enough.

    - Schick E3 Injector with Schick Blade (unknown use)
    - Maggard's 24mm Synthetic Brush
    - Dr. Jon's Conquest shaving soap.
    - Col Conk's PSO
    - Thayer's Lemon Witch Hazel
    - TSD's Energy Aftershave Milk

So tonight's shave... wow. With three days growth, I was expecting at least three passes with several touch ups. After the first WTG pass, I was amazed at how much growth was cut off. I figure I could have gotten by with that and some touch ups and called it good. But I opted for a second pass, ATG and then some touch ups with witch hazel. I wasn't chasing no baby, but damn if I didn't have a fine shave. I was really quite surprised. No alum test, I didn't need it to tell me how good of a shave it was.

I heard back from Larry this morning, and he is going to hook me up with a sight unseen so I'm looking forward to that. And I think I might be ordering a Colonial Razor too.

Hope everyone is enjoying their Memorial Day weekend.

    Sharp Star (day 4)
    French Vanilla(JR#72)
    DIY PSO
    Razorock Carribean Holiday
    Alum/ Thayers/Stirling Iced Pinapple AS

Running late, I forgot to change the blade. I was hopeful it would be OK. I told the wife and she liked the scent and decided to shave. I offered her a warm lather in the scuttle and she jumped at the chance. She found the soap very good but it got thicker in the scuttle, possibly drying a bit. I added more water to thin it out. It made so much that I did not need to make more for my shave. Unfortunately, I slightly thinned it too much but it was fine. The scent smells of a very rich Vanilla Rum. The official lists ,'sunshine, rum, coconut cream, pineapple '. It was very warm, rich and inviting. Very enjoyable soap.

The Sharp Star unfortunately had enough. The two passes were tough. I ended up using the 6C with a new Rockwell blade for two ATG passes and touch up.

Alum was biting. Being in a rush, I figured I would splash on some mentholated Iced Pineapple to cool my face. Instead I recreated the Home Alone scene when he applied aftershave. It stung big time! Sharp Star was yanked and replaced with a Perma-Sharp SS blade. Did get a BBS but paid for it with a burn!
