Went with a Menthol Monday theme today and broke out some Dr Carvers Pillowy Shave lather DFS irritation free I don't think there's enough slickness in the Dr Carvers to push for BBS.

As I described in my SOTD, it was going to be(and IS, as a matter of fact), a cooler day, so it was time to pull out a winter soap. Wet Shaving Products Sandalwood was next in line. If I get another WSP soap, I want a different type( not saying the Sandalwood is bad). I'll certainly have a long time to decide which one, as thks soap should last me all of next winter, at least. WSP allows for a DFS, I must admit that. I guess I'm just not the "Sandalwood Man" I thought. But I'll put it back until next winter. Next in line for a chilly spring day is Stirling Barbershop soap/Clubman A.S.

    Schick G1 w Vintage PAL (6, I think...)
    WD HM Badger
    Proraso Green
    Thayers Unscented
    Barrister's Reserve Cool

Sorry, no pic this morning. Did a 'Menthol Monday' this morning. Messed up the lather a bit this morning as I started with too wet a brush, but got it usable. The PAL blade is starting to dull a bit, but it was still a nice, pleasant shave this morning. 3+ passes to a near BBS. Finished with the Cool- can't wait for the soap version to be released in a few weeks.
Whatever happened to the skin on my lower neck is starting to clear a bit, but it has been a full week of itchiness and irritation. I really don't think it was shave-related or it would have been higher on my neck as well. One of life's mysteries, I guess.
Have a great day all, and to those friends who are south of the border, enjoy your Memorial Day!

I remember when I got this, me telling you that I didn't think I would want to beat the hell out of a good badger knot on the ridges it had. Later I was thinking that it would be nearly worthless to grind spices in because they would all just get trapped in the grooves. Too deep, too sharp. Keeping in mind that I paid like $8 for this on ebay or Amazon or somewhere, I figured I did not have the same craftsmanship of bowl you guys all rave about.

The roughest sandpaper I have laying around is 600 grit and I just spent about a half an hour and four sheets of paper trying to soften them up. That stuff is hard. HARD hard. I got them to the point where it's better, but still maybe not where I want it. I'll pick up some grittier paper next time I go to town. This bowl really is the perfect size and shape. I'll make it work.

I've had a reaction to the starch in a batch of my dress shirts that tore my lower neck up. Only happened that one time.

When I read this, I cringed. Having watched @wchnu in a couple of his videos, and how carefully he approaches the SE's, this just screamed "Ouch.". Hopefully you heal well :)

The building used to be a Dairy Queen type restaurant, behind was a carport roof to park in the shade. Construction been happening there lately. Looks like the original building will get dozed when the new one behind is completed.

Something like that, I think, as it does sort of mirror my collar line. Never had it happen before.

That's a great setup, Mark. I love that brush. Nathan turns some really neat stuff.

In Houston, there are a lot of them. Korean grocery stores (one is like a mall inside), Vietnamese, Chinese, even a couple of small Japanese grocery stores.

    May 29 (Monday ) - injector excellence

    Schick E2 / Personna (1)
    Supply Provision synthetic brush
The Red Green Duct Tape Special frankensoap
Alum and Thayers Witch Hazel Astringent Aftershave

I took a break from the Supply Provision Single Edge but stayed with an injector today, pulling out my Schick E2. The original owner thought highly enough of his E2 that he had his name engraved on the handle; I can understand why. Using my now-standard skin stretching and light pressure, I got an excellent shave today: one pass and some touchup along the jawline brought me to an almost perfect BBS without any blood of any kind and no irritation. No burn from either the alum or the alcohol aftershave.

It's odd: People say the Schick E and G are very aggressive razors while the Supply Provision Single Edge is considered milder, even on the Aggressive plate. Yet I can't shave with the SP on the second plate without blood and irritation and even have to take care on the Mild plate, but I can get a good, clean, irritation-free shave every time now from the Schick E2. I think the difference is the weight of the razors. It just goes to show how much YMMV really applies in wetshaving.
