My guess is you will find the E even easier to get dialed in.

 

That is a good point. With the grain can change direction in a pass.

May 30 (Tuesday ) - frankensoap and injector perfection

Alum and Thayers Witch Hazel Astringent Aftershave

The little Schick injector gave me another near perfect BBS with 1 1/2 passes today. No warmth from the alum but a bit of sting from the alcohol aftershave along my jawline, where I had done the extra pass and some buffing. I expected that. No real irritation though.

Tomorrow I will end my late-month injector focus by going back to the Supply Provision Single Edge and seeing if I can replicate my Schick E2 shave with it.

I have used the frankensoap almost exclusively this month and gotten stellar lather from it every time.

The only part of today's shave that was a bit of a letdown was the Kent boar brush. I broke it in with several test latherings that I allowed to dry on it to help the break in process, and I have used it intermittently for several months since. But somehow, I am still just not feeling the love. It continues to be pricklier than my Omega, it just doesn't seem to pick up or flow through lather very well, and it still sheds the occasional hair. I am beginning to think that the best place for this brush is the garbage can...

I am not sure anybody would thank me for it .... unless I included something that was actually nice or useful with it...

 

That's kind of the point of a PIF - give it to someone who might want to experiment. I'd offer to take it, but I have five Butterfly brushes that may have been delivered at my doorstep today, plus two others I haven't tried yet.

 

For me, going WTG is North/South on cheeks and jawline on one side but is East/West on one jawline and the lower half of my neck on both sides. It did make for a significant reduction in irritation last winter when I figured that out. IMHO, see if you can go 'truly' WTG everywhere on your first pass. You might find the blade doesn't feel so tuggy, or the alum so hot.

 

This G1 was a dream once I got the blade changed... I was too aggressive with the E the first time I used it, will be more respectful tomorrow morning!

I lost my focus this month, but had some excellent shaves. I enjoyed watching the Mayhem and I witnessed some brave souls.
Today's shave was great with these tools again. The Oscar 11 w/Omega 10049 boar is an amazing shave brush which gets better with each use.

Shave #2 with my first ever Feather. Two passes to another near-BBS. This is definitely a blade to respect, though, as I came close a couple of times to nicking myself if my attention wavered. A slight burn from the Alum, but no major issues. All told, I'm glad I finally decided to try these blades. (I'd consider paraphrasing from "Green Eggs and Ham", but really would not shave under most of the conditions outlined in the story with any blade.

 

I've really started liking my Omega 10049 since it has started to break in.

I just listed my shave plan for tomorrow, but then suddenly realized, I had to change it, as I need to be out of here early to get my car's oil changed. I've always said I don't like to eat and run-it's the same with shaving. No time for soap&brush work.

 

I have said many times the E2 I have makes you remember the mantra of No Pressure. Looking forward to the report.
