A little Hussy love was in order this morning. I was squeezed for time and needed to look good so the Hussy stepped up to the plate. Easy, quick, super close, super smooth. Nothing but face-rubbing goodness. :happy036:

    Viva l'Italia!

Viva l'Italia! Today is the Italian National Day or, like we properly call it, "Festa della Repubblica", that is our "Republic Day". We are in fact celebrating the 71st anniversary of our Republic. Long live Italy! To celebrate our National Day I shaved with Italian products only, including the ones made by me, certainly and proudly made in Italy. As for the razor, I used this Mastro Livi RWL34, a stainless steel having - and I am sure about this - superior quality and performance in shaving. I must say this is the only Mastro Livi razor I have ever honed (I own 31 of them, none of them ever needed honing) and not because it needed honing, indeed because of a challenge. I have read from time to time many people complained about Mastro Livi RWL34 razors and in their opinion it was a stainless steel impossible to hone and it could not take any edge or however a good edge. I have three RWL34 razors and I decided to accept the risk of honing one of them and I decided to sacrifice this one. Let me say this clear: this razor had a great edge (just like any Mastro Livi razor) but I wanted to try myself to hone it from scratch and see whether those complaining about RWL34 razors were right. I removed the original Mastro Livi edge by severely dulling it on a stone, then I started making a new bevel from scratch. It took about 15 minutes to get a fabulous edge and I can tell (and prove) what people say about Mastro Livi RWL34 is absolutely false. I used a 3K to make a new bevel, a Belgian coticule and then Mastro Livi chromium oxide paste and his loom strop. Since that day, I used this razor to shave dozens of times and it still has a very sharp and super cutting edge. Mastro Livi RWL34 straight razors are magnificently amazing shavers, giving a super close and very effective shave. Viva l'Italia!

Let's put it this way. Compared to my only other Lime soap, Mystic Water, there is no comparison. Indeed, there are more similarities between the Dark Limes and my CB Tonsorial Parlour. Lemon Verbeena maybe?
The lather was a bit dry for my first pass. I literally dunked the overloaded Chief into the basin and went back to the face. Better slickness at that point. The refill puck is ridiculously small.
    IMG_1491.jpg
So, as I always do with hard pucks, I grated it and pressed it into this container
    IMG_1498.jpg
Far easier to load. These comments should not be construed as a "review". I have only lathered the soap twice and shaved with it once. I will use it for a few more shaves and see how I feel. However, at $20.95 + shipping for a 95g puck is a lot. (I just bought another vintage Tallow Williams for $7.00 shipped)

    Prep - shower
Pre - Badger Balm pre-shave oil
    Brush - RazoRock BIG BRUCE
Razor - 1953 Gillette English Tech
    Blade - GSB (13)
Soap - Mitchell's Wool Fat + menthol crystals
Post - Alum, Thayer's Rose WH, AV 5-in-1 balm
    AS - Clubman Classic Vanilla
    Frag - none

A really good shave today. The blade feels like it is starting to get dull, so I may be binning it soon.

Adding menthol crystals to MWF is a good idea. It made today's shave feel amazing.

    Saturday's planned action:

    Nivea Facial Wash
    Razorock Plissoft 26mm Monster
    Super Speed Rapira day 6
    Stirling Barbershop SS
    Karo Classic AS Balm
    Florida Water Cologne

    The ultimate old-school setup!

Rod's Barbershop soap smells awesome, lathers like a champ, and feels so good. I love the soothing from this Karo Classic balm, and the Florida Water makes a perfect finish!

Smooth and close shave but I noticed that in comparison with the Ever-Ready 1912 this Push-Button wasn't as slick sliding over the skin. Had a minor mishappening with a weeper near a small mole but very swiftly controlled with the comfort lather and cold water. I'm also noticing that I'm face lathering more and more, and with this brush is really a treat!

yes, expensive for a 3 ounce puck. This is what I found regarding the ingredients: from West Africa. Fresh lime juice, copious amounts of organic shea butter and a grassy-tangy aroma of lemon, petitgrain and litsea cubeba. Hard to beat the original Williams though........

    Blade: Chinese Schick
    Razor: Schick G1 injector
    Brush: Omega 10049 boar
    Lather: Bombed Mitchell's Wool Fat
Post: Bombed Witch hazel, Bombed Fine American Blend aftershave
    WTG, touch up

Terrific shave with the Fat Friday setup. I added some TSD M-bomb to the lather, the witch hazel, and the finishing splash. Plus I had ice water in the scuttle to add a little more chill. Very nice results.

    Have a great day!

Very much starting to like this soap. It is very easy to lather with a good scent, even I can smell it. :) Very near BBS shave this afternoon.
