Super smooth and efficient shave again with the 6s and voskhod. I think the Futur has been surpassed. [IMG]

    Ming Shi 2000s Razor
    Personna Lab Blue Blade
    Frank Shaving Boar Brush
    Derby Soap
    Dickinson's Witch Hazel
Pinaud Virgin Island Bay Rum After Shave

Second shave with the Ming Shi and Lab Blue with the setting this time set at 3.5. Compared to the setting on it's first shave at 2.5, this time it actually felt better and smoother. Could this be the sweet spot for me? I'll find out next time when I'll set it higher. In two passes with a little touch up, it produced a really good BBS shave.

It's so funny because my wife only likes a few of my aftershaves and fragrances. She bought me this Reef Point stuff without a clue to how it is. It turns out that I love it and so does she!

The soap pass-around box made it back to me. It's overwhelming! But there was a tin of Mike's Coconut soap in there and I hopped at the chance to try it. First time using Mike's. Terrific lather, on the level of Stirling as far as how much water it can take and the slickness and viscosity. Nice shave overall. Really enjoyed trying Mike's!

    Have a great day!

Mitchell's Wool Fat Shaving Soap face-lathered well with my Heldtite Synthetic brush. I did two passes with the Gem 1911 Lather Catcher with a CVS blade, and I ended up with a close, comfortable shave. This razor may well be the very best razor I have. It is so efficient and comfortable. After a cold water rinse and alum block, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Florida Water AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

The Kai Captain Titan Mild (Pink) is starting to loose it's edge very quickly and I think I could either squeeze 1 or 2 more shaves, so far no nicks or cuts and also no irritation so far as I've created a very good slick protective lather using Wholly Kaw shaving soap and MAN! this soap is FANTASTIC!! ;) smell like Barbershop.......well sort of :innocent:)

Nice pic. What kind of wood is that at upper left? Looks like it"s unfurling.

    Straight Shave #5

    Prep - shower
Pre - Badger Balm pre-shave oil
Brush - RazoRock 400 Noir Plissoft
    Straight - Robeson ShurEdge
Strop - Whipped Dog Poor Man
Razor - 1853 Gillette English Tech
    Blade - GSB (13)
Soap - Love My Skin Ambe
Post - Alum, Thayer's Rose WH, AV 5-in-1 balm
    AS - AoS Sandalwood ASB
    Frag - none

Today was a 4 pass shave. Two passes with the straight and two passes with the Tech.

This was my first time using the ShurEdge and it was a very good thing. The rounded toe really makes a difference when shaving. I can see why these are recommended for the beginner. I managed to only give myself two pin-prick weepers on the first pass, so for the first time ever I decided to give myself a second pass with the straight. The second pass left me with a bit of lasting razor burn, but only a third small weeper under my nose. Two passes with the Tech left me with a very nice BBS.

The Love My Skin soap was also new to me. The Amber smells like I remember Play-Doh smelling when I was a kid. The scent changed only slightly when lathered. It is not a bad smell, just a bit odd. It lathered nicely without blooming and delivered plenty of slickness. I will need to use it a bit more to give a proper evaluation, but so far I have to say that this is great soap.

Nice evening shave. El Jefe on loan from a member on another forum. Excellent 2 pass shave, with two tiny weepers and a small nic on the chin, totally user error on my part. Not as aggressive as an Rx, or as mild as the Brass General, but more in between towards the aggressive side. Smooth and efficient with a Kai blade. Killer shave to be honest. Another new Stone Cottage scent, Leather & Smoke. Uber masculine and awesome performance and post shave feel. Have a great evening and shaves Gents......:happy088:

Razor - Merkur Futur (Adjustable Setting = 1)
    Blade - Gillette Silver Blue
    Razor Stand by RV Shaving
    Shave Brush - Omega Hi-Brush 20mm Synthetic (Model# 46745 – 0146745)
Brush Stand by Desire Metal Works
    Preshave Oil - Lather & Wood's "Unscented"
Shave Soap - Country Club for Men *Woodly Spice scent (Custom created scent, not normally available, you must contact to request)
Aftershave - Country Club for Men *Woodly Spice scent (Custom created scent, not normally available, you must contact to request)
Post Shave Balm - Retseliney Hyaluronic Acid Face Serum
Deodorant - HeartJCreations *Spiced Woods (Custom created scent, not available unless obtained by Country Club for Men)
Fragrance - Creed Spice & Wood

Woke up late, and didn't have anything planned for the day and decided not to shower right away. Finally had a 2:30pm shower/shave with my favorite scent. With the Futur on "1" (least aggressive), there is just zero irritation. I was able to take my time with my lather with nothing pressing on my mind, so I decided to go without pre-shave oil today. The irritation was so low that I went for a full-2nd pass instead of just a 'cleanup'. I also do a minor spot shave to my eyebrows to keep from having a unibrow and avoid the Brezhnev-look. I also shave the back of my neck everyday to keep it looking clean. I was having such a great shave today that I decided to do a 2nd pass on the back of my neck with a cross-grain stroke. I got just the most amazing BBS neckline/hairline shave in the back. Zero irritation. Zero nicks. No weepers. Aftershave was almost unnecessary, but I love CCFM aftershave from Kevin. I also think highly of his shave soap.

I really am becoming a proponent of less aggressive razors and I think I get just as smooth a shave out of them. Right now my two best razors for shaving are a tie between the Gillette Superspeed original (1947-1952) with a BiC Chome-Platinum blade and my Edwin Jagger Kelvin with a Feather Hi-Stainless blade (or Personna Med Prep-tie). Runner up at the moment is the Futur with just about any blade 2 shaves are completed with a "1" setting (today the Futur shaved as good as it gets on the 3rd shave with the Gillette Silver Blue, which is the same shave number that the last blade needed to reach perfect comfort/performance). These 3 razors give trouble-free, nick-free, irritation-free shaves that turn out extremely smooth.

The ONLY razor that shaves closer IMO is the Gillette Oldtype with a Gillette Yellow blade. I previously had the Gillette Old-Type as my favorite but that has changed since I graduated to doing full 2-pass shaves (I just haven't felt the need to do 3 passes since I'm literally BBS after 2 passes even on non-aggressive razors). Of course these rankings today will very likely change in the future. I am constantly evaluating my shaves.

I absolutely loved my shave today. Being able to take my time, have a clear mind with no time pressures really helps make a shave a perfect one. I genuinely 'try' to make the time in the mornings before work to enjoy my shaves the best I can, but there is nothing like that day off with plenty of time available and no pressures. It's almost like a form of meditation and relaxation. I may one day try out an ancient straight razor shave in the future, especially on days like this where time is no issue.
