Here are just some opinions: -Glacial Eskimo Tuxedo might be cold, but I personally don't think of Green Irish Tweed as a summer scent. It isn't heavy per se, but not light to me either. -Glastonbury is a patchouli forward scent, and while I have love it since it came out the first time, I don't think of it as a summer scent per se. Okay, how about this: Hot summer evening, been drinking beer all day when you should have been drinking more water, and you are dancing your butt off to some jam band, not because you even feel like dancing anymore, but because the you have decided that hippy chick you are dancing in the general vicinity of, is the woman you want to marry. It's that kind of scent.... ✌️ -Port au Prince is possibly the greatest scent of all time; earthy citrus awesome. It is also the sheep tallow base, and a definite must try in my book. -Rod's Grapefruit rocks. Cannot speak highly enough of it. -Iced Pineapple - The best fruit scented soap on the planet. Not especially heavily mentholated, but oh man..... -Barbershop is light. It has that traditional powdery element, but not in an overwhelming way. I am not normally a huge barbershop fan, but I like this one. -I have not tried Baker Street. -Coniferous is a great soap, but I prefer Scot's Pine Sheep for the mutton base, and Ozark Mountain for the scent. The day @ezlovan runs a batch of Ozark in the mutton tallow would be the day my winter shave soap dream is fulfilled. Obviously scents are subjective, but that sure seems like a fun want list to me.
Baker St. has become one of my favorite soaps ever. I wasn't certain about the scent at first, but now I find that I cannot get enough of it. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
I will most likely grab up a sample on one of my next orders. When it came out I was still desperately clinging to the idea that I was going to finish the year with less soap than I started. Now that I have rid myself of that illusion, I will give it a try.
I have the Strop Shoppe Baker Street soap but the Stirling Baker Street splash. Unique scent. I really like it!
Terrific descriptions. I guess I need to try some Port au Prince. I want to try the mutton base soaps but am not sure of the scents. So many good soaps to try! And just from Stirling! I have tried these shave soaps from Stirling: Ozark Mountain Dunshire Sandpiper Glacial Lemon Chill Grapefruit with menthol Iced Pineapple Barbershop I have tried all of those scents in the splash plus these: Stirling Gentleman Bergamot Lavender Mountain Man Executive Man I now have a tub of Pharoah's Dreamsicle to try. There was a tub of Coniferous in the pass-around box, but the scent seemed off to me. All of the samples in the pass-around box also mingled scents and were almost unrecognizable. I had to just toss them out. So, I have tried a few scents but there is still LOTS more to explore!
I helped Rod make the name for Eskimos Tuxedo. I asked him to make a Sharp Dressed Man glacial and got to help with the name. I love Stirling soaps. Sent from my SM-S975L using Tapatalk
It was a great experience. I got the first puck. I may use it tomorrow Sent from my SM-S975L using Tapatalk
I suggested a Glacial Lavender which Rod made but it turned out to be a big failure. The scent was nice, but it didn't have good performance - at least not to me. I'll never give any more ideas again because my knowledge is lousy about scent combinations.
Let's see now - for tomorrow! It'll be either: Glacial MITA MITA (regular) Glacial Lemon Chill Glacial Eskimo Tuxedo Frozen Tundra Decisions with Rod's soaps are hard because they're magnificent!
I attended Maggard's Wet Shave Meet Up in Michigan a few weeks ago. I met Rod - great guy! Picked up a couple more Stirling soaps (plus other stuff) - Black Cherry and Vanilla Sandalwood. The Black Cherry really does smell like black cherries. I just got back from the road trip and am letting my beard grow for a couple days so I can give my new Merkur Futur razor a good workout - will use the Black Cherry for the first time also. Can't wait.
