Setting a wide Focus left wiggle room for my variation situation. Using the same soap twice was novel. Not at all my flibberdigibbet never the same one twice. Tabac with a slightly moist synthetic brush lathered up as it should. Thick, slick and smelling of Granny's purse. I'll agree with @Keithmax about the quality of these Personna blades. While I have no problem with Chicks, these are better! Took all my regular passes in the other than normal order; WTG, ATG, XTG & S-slides. Little bit of chin buffing to see if I could nick myself but the razor behaved. Alum was a quiet as a Fat Boy shave & the Refresh lotion left me mildly mentholated & minty.
    Good Shaves Y'all!

LAWDDDDD you people chatter like a bunch of ole hens. I take a day off and have to do a shavette fu multi quote to catch up!! I love it.

    NICE!!

I was very happy to see a post event post from you. The British have that long history of going about their business in the face of attack. Very admirable.

That is the world I live in. Things work out right most the time with very little input from me. More people might need to try that . Much better then the constant fight to get through.

I tried to teach my ex to stay in Condition yellow. It worked sometimes but most the time it was me that had my head up. Which is of course most of the job.

I have had to explain that to several people over the years. Why I walk where I do and act like I do at times. Not a martial arts type here but have spent many years protecting people. I am always to guard bear in the room.

I open carry every where it is legal. I want to look like a cross between a bear and porcupine.

The G is one awesome shaving Injector. Enjoy!!!

Glad we are funny to you...that we amuse you..

Did you see I was PIF'd a Parker,, I see what the hoopla is all about.

I so wish the weekends were longer but it is Monday and the start of another work week. I did want to revisit the General with a Feather Super blade in hopes that it would work better the second time around. I am happy to say that the Feather Super worked great. It is not as smooth as the Feather Pro but I did find it more efficient. Throwing caution to the wind I went ATG followed by XTG with minimal touch ups. I just missed catching the baby. A splash of F&C Shambala and I off for the day. I hope everyone has a great Monday.

5 June 2017 Menthol Monday Blade Focus Shave

If it's Monday it must be C O Bigelow! Squeezed a healthy dollop into my Lenox shave bowl and the Omega 6212 whipped up a great, slick, cooling lather. Wielding the GEM Featherweight/Blue Star combo thru 2.5 passes of shaving excellence I came out with a DFS+ shave. Had to do a little extra work on my lower neck. The only blades that seem to be able to conquer that area are Shark & Voskhod. No matter, after a splash of Proraso Green Lozione Dopobarba Monday was on!
A new week and a new opportunity to excel!
Have a great shave, have a great day!

Monday June 5 - Being a Soap Butterfly

    Gillette Slim on 3 / Topaz Platinum ( 2 )
30DC LE brush with Cashmere knot
    Valobra Fougere hard soap
Alum and Thayers Witch Hazel Astringent Aftershave

With the month barely started, I am naturally changing my Focus. Instead of working with my SE and injector razors, I am fixing my hardware for the month as the Gillette Slim loaded with Topaz Platinum blades. I will fix my brush as the new 30DC LE brush and spend the month really learning its quirks well. Meanwhile, my software is going to float completely - I will flit from one previously unused soap to another in my inventory until I have tried them all, never staying with any one soap for more than a day or two at most.

I spent most of last month concentrating on using my soft Italian almond frankensoap, which is made up of Vitos Green, Vitos Red, Cella red tub cream, Valobra soft almond and a dash of 3P. I therefore thought I would start by trying and comparing a couple Valobra hard soaps with it. One is Unscented and the other is Fougere (Fern). I started with the Fougere.

The dampened synthetic brush easily loaded product off the puck with a few seconds of swirls. It didn't load as easily as with the soft soap but it was a bit faster than the MWF I tried yesterday. I then added too much water to my lather bowl and got a runny lather that went on quite thinly. My first pass felt a bit tuggy, but the soap still protected me against nicks, weepers, or actual irritation.

I went back to the puck and reloaded before the second pass and rewhipped the lather into a thicker consistency. My second pass felt very smooth with no tugging or sticking of the razor at all.

I normally only do two passes and maybe some touchups. The shave I got today is perfectly adequate but not to my usual near BBS level of closeness. However, despite the early tugging, the alum was dead quiet as was the alcohol in the aftershave.

My sense is that the soap is a good basic soap but not quite as easy to use as the softer Italian almonds. The scent was fairly mild - a general impression to me of moist growing green stuff, which, I suppose, basically describes a fern. It's not a scent I can ever see myself loving or looking forward to using, but neither is it unpleasant. It's just there.

Tomorrow I will try the Unscented version. I expect the performance will be similar, which will give me a second chance to dial the lather in properly. The unscented puck smells to me faintly of clean, tallow soap; I will see what it smells like, if anything, once lathered.

To be honest, I see these Valobra hard soaps winding up in a secondary box of soaps to use in an emergency or else to PIF. Perfectly good, but I have about five years worth of creams I actually like, plus about 7 years worth of Arko before I even get to my harder soaps, so a soap I consider "not so bad" just isn't going to see much use.

After a weekend travelling, and shaving with my usual travel set up (Ball End Tech, Omega Travel Boar brush), I'm back on focus this morning. Got a decent lather from the TFS and big badger this morning. 3 passes resulted in another near BBS.
A bit of a post script- I found what I thought was a British Rocket for not much money in a small antique shop out of town. It turns out it is an English Aristocrat Jr. that I put a few pictures of in The Haul thread. I'm pleased with how it cleaned up-

Here is a soap that I wish was still in production. Face lathers like Arko and smells great. This shave was a great way to start if what could be an interesting week. I am getting a new boss and get to meet him today. Wish me luck
