Well, I'm completely moved into my new home as of yesterday. After I got the car unloaded took a much much much needed shower and shaved off about 3 days of beard. I was thinking of trying the feathers on the longer hair but still have a couple days left for my 30 day rule so I just popped in a fresh Astra SP.

Shaving felt so good. Took my time removing all the hair with 3 passes: WTG, XTG nose to ear and then XTG ear to nose. I must say this had to be my best shave yet. Other than a very tiny weeper on my upper lip and cutting my cut on my neck from Friday, it was perfect. Only felt the alum on the cut and felt BBS unless you rubbed against the grain and even then it was very short, fine sandpaper. My special lady friend and now roommate even said my face felt like "A baby's ass."

    Happy shaving everyone!

My setup for the last 27 days. Well, the witch hazel and LT got added later. I have to say the Gentleman Jon kit is not bad at all. I have become proficient with the razor and have really grown to like this soap. It is the only shave soap I have used but I enjoy the scent and it seems to work as one would expect. I have found that despite that it is not super dry winter if I don't shave after my shower I still get that tight, uncomfortable dryness to my face. The Gentleman Jon soap does leave my face feeling pretty good between the rinse and the alum and it seems to lather pretty easily compared to what I've read about some other soaps.

It didn't come with a tin so I just load the brush from my hand. All I do now that I got it down is soak the brush while I'm in the shower, flick the water out, rinse the puck, load the brush and dip the tips of the bristles in the water and it's perfect. Loading the brush takes maybe 30 seconds for 2 passes.

The brush just started shedding on my puck and my face this last shave so I might be picking up an Omega in the near future. It has been perfectly fine besides that. It has gotten softer and works perfect as far as I can tell.

After almost a month of shaving with this kit I have to say it was $30(after a $25 Amazon gift card) very well spent to get me started with wet shaving.

Thanks! Couldn't have made all this progress this quickly without you guys!

I'm thinking since I won the Newbie giveaway I might hold off on Stirling a little longer and get a soap from Gingers Garden and one from TSD store.

Another thing I'm starting to worry about is the threading in the handle is starting to get a white build up and maybe oxidation. Screwing the head on is getting slightly more difficult.

For this morning's shave I broke out the Razorock XXX. Using the Omega 10098, I managed a slick cushiony lather that probably would have gone 4-5 passes. With the GEM Featherweight/Blue Star duo however, only 2.5 passes were required for a DFS+. This pairing seems to work really well. So tomorrow I'll be cueing it up again to test it out. Splashed on some Cella Lozione Dopobarba and Tuesday was off and runnin'.

    Barrister's Reserve Spice

Sorry, no pic today. Continuing with the Injector focus, I switched back to the Injectomatic today, changed out the dull blade and had a 3 pass near BBS with this combo. I did get a few weepers this morning on my chin, so I'll need to pay more attention to angle there with this razor. I had loaded this razor originally with the bad Chicks, and it made a significant difference with these non-dull blades.
    Have a great day all!

Clean the threads off and then in future keep them lightly oiled or greased. If you own firearms, a drop of your favourite gun oil or a dab of gun grease is ideal. If not, then any household oil or grease will work, such as 3-in-1 or even Vaseline. A drop every week or so will keep the thread working smoothly and prevent oxidation if your razor is prone to it there.

Reminds me of when I would have to go to Germany on business. No matter where you went, there was usually a Hawaiian-style item on the menu "mit Schinken und Ananas".

Castle Forbes Limes is a favorite of mine. So little for a cream is needed to make tons of lather and the lime scent is amazing. That looks like a great razor.

    Razor: NDC 48-49 Gillette Milord
    Blade: German Wilkie (1)
    Brush: Razorock Plissoft 22
    Cream: KMF fragrance-free
    Post: Alum, Listerine, WH

I totally forgot today was the anniversary of D-Day or I probably would have picked a different combo. As it is, I used a post-War razor paired with a German-made blade carrying an English branding. There's a meaning in there somewhere, I suppose...

I'm starting out this month with a SuperSpeed focus and beginning it with my oldest one- Milord manufactured some time in 48-49 (notched bar, patent numbers on "package"). It's one of four that I own; the other's being a 52 Black Tip, a 58 TV Special, and a 64 Flare Tip.

A great shave today for a a DFS+ with no issues.
