It's model S41 in their catalog, and will try to write it up soon!

Thanks for the model number. I just reviewed their catalog and it looks like they use the Vulfix numbering convention. Perhaps Vulfix makes TOBS' brushes. Looking forward to your review.

Fresh from the lathe of member Jason's @jtspartan, my Limited Edition 30 Day Crew brush. Made from Cypress wood from my father's orchard, and fitted with an APShaveCo Cashmere synthetic knot. For supplying Cypress to the LE30DC handle project, Jason sent a second handle that I will fit with a knot for my brother in WVa. Jason also included a zebra wood mechanical pencil from his shop. I'm a happy camper! [IMG]

One last final haul after lunch. An HJM by Mühle black synthetic brush and a Tabac cologne. The best €12 I spent while on this trip

I'm not sure about the brush but for the price I figured I will give it a shot

    The short brutal review:

Synthetics are better. The new Badger requires insane amounts of soap and water versus synthetic, requires soaking and drying, and takes far, far longer to build lather than Plisson. Honestly, I don't know why anyone uses natural hair anymore, it's clearly inferior in every area performance I can see. This brush has zero shot of daily use. And given it's place in the pantheon of Badger hair, it will be the last Badger I ever buy. It's really just a souvenir from Taylor, sadly.

Builds character, i sorta like when they lived before as opposed to being new old stock.

Experience and fact-based judgement. Badger feels nice, but no nicer than a good synthetic. It eats soap at 4x the rate, and it won't dry overnight, making it a non-starter for travel. I understand badger is traditional, and a luxury preference for many. However, the judgement that badger is "best" just simply isn't true.

Those are my thoughts as well. It us soaking right now. The 1/4 turn is sticking.

I have yet to try a synthetic OR badger. I believe I have -one- badger, and I think a couple of the butterfly ones I picked up are synthetic, but they'll be old stock synthetic, nothing recent.

I agree with you the only advantage badger has is water and heat retention which isn't as big a deal to a face latherer. Factor in the fact that Synthetics are less expensive, don't smell, don't need a break in,don't need to be soaked, and they dry faster it's kind of a no brainer.
