That's right folks. I found gasoline at $2.72 a gallon today at Sam's Club. 2 weeks ago it was around $3.50 something. What's going on?? Has everyone stopped driving?? How long will this last?? Do I need to get some big barrels and store some in the back yard??
Yes, I can remember .25 a gallon. I can also recall "Gas Wars" where the price went down to cover taxes, about .11 a gallon. Ah, for the old days......
$4.06 out here courtesy of the BX/PX out here (They raise them prices real quick...real slow to come down:mad
Try buying off the base! $6.10, baby, and it was about $7 two weeks ago. And I live in the CHEAP part of the country.
I know that gas tends to be cheaper here in the States than in other places and we have been spoiled by that. I was wondering about the effect of the size of our country and the fact that the vast part of the country provides poor mass transit. On a related not, what is the average commute times in your countries? Here are some older figures for the US. See the whole article here... http://www.census.gov/Press-Release/www/releases/archives/american_community_survey_acs/004489.html
Which one came first cheap gas/everybody driving or the lack of mass transit? I tend to think that "car being king" is what caused the horrible state of mass transit in the US--people just didn't use it. Looking at average commute times by prefecture, it looks like they range from 27 to 54 minutes. The longer are almost guaranteed to be by train. One thing that is different is mileage. Our car, which is about 6 years old, gets about 36 mpg. We're planning to buy a new car next year, it should get about 42 mpg.
Don’t know what your complaining about we were paying $10.80 just went down to $8.55 some parts of the UK were up to $12.50 for petrol and $13.50 for diesel
