Tonight's shave was with a Big Old razor, that is a joy to use. I had a silky smooth 2 pass shave, that left me BDBS. No Nicks, Cuts, Or Weepers. One of my favorites.

    Razor- Wade & Butcher.
    Brush- B400 By Tom
    Soap- Stirling Spice
Aftershave- Osage Rug. (My eyes are still watering).

Sheffield steel fresh off the hones. Still wasn't cutting it ( pun intended). The edge could definitely be better. So back to square one. Still after three passes, I ended up with a decent shave.

    Razor: Portland Razor Co Chimera
    Strop: Drygulch 45
    Brush Handle: 30DC LE
    Knot: APShaveCo Cashmere
    Soap: Mike's Hungarian Lavender
    Post Care: Thayers Witch Hazel
    Alum
    Osage Rub
Aftershave: Chatillon Lux Champs de Lavande

Wonderful shave this morning with several new products. First off, this brush is wonderful. It's beautiful, feels great in the hand and the knot is crazy soft. I also now understand why Mike's is a difficult soap to get; great lather, protection and scent. Finally the Chatillon Lux, as close to perfect as an AS gets. It was a fantastic way to start my day. Have a great day folks![IMG]

Comrades, the Glory of the Motherland, Russian steel, delivered one of my most stellar shaves ever today - all whiskers and traces of them are now nyet. I've never had such a close shave and virtually no noise from the alum from any straight before. It was glorious comrades, da, glorious. :happy036:

Tonight's shave was with an old Wedge razor. I had a very nice 2 pass shave. The results were a DFS, because I got a weeper under my nose, and was in a hurry. My fault. Very nice and silent razor.

Razor- Union Cutlery Co. "Gold Spike"
    Brush- German "Oceans" Boar
    Soap- Stirling Spice
    Aftershave- Avon Spicy

I took this back to the hones after yesterday's sub par performance. I taped it up and started at the 1k and went through the normal progression. First swipe if the blade told me that I finally got it right. Two passes was sufficient, but I completed a third cuz I didn't want to waste any lather:)

Been awhile since I shaved with a straight razor. Just like riding a bike. I honed this Russian blade earlier today and it is very smooth and comfortable to use

I am too lazy to take pics regularly when I shave.
I have been using my Gold Dollar 100 fairly regularly - getting excellent, very smooth shaves.
I have taken to stropping this particular blade on printed bulletins (from church) which gives me an ample supply of stropping material.
Usually between 75-150 passes on the paper, followed by 60-100 passes on the leather. Works for me.

Got a very smooth 2 pass DFS today - close to BBS. This is a nice, dependable razor.

Interesting. I don't see why the use of paper, to strop. Will the linen on your strop do the job, or is does paper add a little more??

DaltonGang, This is just me trying something new.
I don't have any real justification for using the paper, other than I had read about stropping using newspaper on several occasions.
I have always wanted to try it.

The problem was in using newspaper. It seemed clumsy and cumbersome.

Then, I got the idea to use these bulletins. They are of a heavier paper, and when folded present a very nice 8.5" X 3.5" surface.
The paper has a draw somewhat lighter than the linen, but heavier than the leather - if that makes sense.
Not using any paste, but have used various colored (ink) bulletins. "They say" that different color inks have different abrasiveness.

Seems to work pretty good. Next I will try using the blade after JUST the paper strop - just to see how that works.
    Thanks for asking.

I get it. Just because you can. I do the same, a lot of times.
