*sigh*. Used more VDH today, plus the generic OC, and Astra (4th shave). Two spots, neither really needed styptic, but I did it anyway. Ended with AV. I really need to shave more than once every four to seven days. :p Still amazed at the noise from this razor while NOT being abusive to my face.

Anyway - planning on shaving tomorrow with the Aristocrat (probably the same Astra blade), and do a normal shave rather than the 'removing the forest' shave.

That looks like a great lineup of fantastic brushes, with every one being unique. Not just unique handles but with a different kind of knot set in each, every brush will act differently too. What a great rotation!

    Most assuredly

Today's shave was the first day this blade has shown a bit of wear. I'll definitely give it another day, but it may not have too many shaves left. I hope everyone is having a great day!

    Razor: Portland Razor Co Chimera
    Strop: Drygulch 45
    Brush Handle: 30DC LE
    Knot: APShaveCo Cashmere
    Soap: B&M Lavanille
    Post Care: Thayers Witch Hazel
    Alum
    Osage Rub
    Aftershave: B&M Lavanille

Another excellent shave this afternoon, everything came together for a DFS. This Cashmere knot is so soft but it does a great job and the 30DC handle is a pleasure to use. I love the scent of Lavanille and the performance is top shelf. Have a great day folks!

    B-400 O-Pro 98 boar knot
    SS Shavette P/Med Prep
    Schick J-1 Personna Twin
    Alum, Pinaud Citrus Musk
    Mustache by Ace clippers

Great lather, wonderful brush, well made tools, operator error. Still got my shavette training wheels on. New nick on my lower right neck from an improper set down. That signaled swapping out for the Schick. Using the longer Weck I muted the corners. Just gonna deal with blood on half DE steel now. Alum sealed it up, and Pinaud sterilized.

Thank you Brian. The change in meds seems to be working. I am back home tonight but I will continue to check in with her tonight and tomorrow.

Question: Do you use the Oster? I have one, but the torsion spring broke, and I'm still hunting for an acceptable replacement.

Got this set by Ace, and another I'll have to dig out. If the tucked away set in Oster, I'll get a photo up so we can check parts compatibility. I do use the clippers in the picture. Gives me a neat straight line on the 'stache.

I have seen probably 20 of these in my travels over the last month. What does your replacement budget look like? I ask because I have no idea what they should cost.

Oh - I've seen that model of clipper for about $10-15 full replacement cost online. I'm just one of those people that HATES seeing something broken if it can be fixed, and right now, it's only good as a display piece. (like I need more dust collectors) I need to stop by Lee Spring and see if they have one that can be made to work. The problem isn't so much the torsion spring, it's that when it was made, it has/had a sharp bend on one leg. Most of those springs are hardened after shaping, so you can _cut_ the ends, but not bend them. I'll make some time this week to stop there.

Clarification - I wasn't asking to steal parts. Just that I was wondering how well it worked. If it sucked, then I probably wouldn't try to fix mine :)

Cool. I place low value on my other set, so they are available to make repair parts. Both came as filler in a shave gear lot auction I won. The item of interest was the Stahly Live Blade.

if you see one for $5-6, then sure, but don't put any effort forth.

My father suggested that I just have some fun, and send off a letter or email to Oster and ask if they can send me a part list for it.
