Tonight's shave was with a Beefy Little Wedge, I had restored a couple of months ago. I had a silent and smooth 2 pass shave. This left me with a DFS, without any nicks, cuts, or weepers. Very nice razor.

The L'OCCITANE Cade Shaving Soap face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #182 Synthetic brush. I did two passes with the Gem 1911 Lather Catcher with a CVS blade, and I ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse and alum block, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Florida Water AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Quick evening shave. Just one pass to reduce the stubble to acceptable limits. I'm not as smooth as I would be after my normal routine, but that's okay. The Route 66 worked up superb lather in no time and the G8 was smooth and comfortable. No complaints.

    Have a great Sunday!

    Post - Alum

My last two night's shaves have featured a slightly different lather problem. Last night, the JR46 ended up giving me a bit of a dry lather on the first attempt, due to me shaking too much water out of the brush after the quick dip and soak. I corrected that easily enough with a bit more water added as I lathered and the Arko produced. Tonight the West Coast brush was still holding about 2.4 gallons of water after its quick soak and shake, so the start of lathering produced a torrent of runny soap and a barrage of soap on the mirror and adjacement area. That's a harder issue to fix as shaking it at that point doesn't release any water. But, I managed to get it down to a great lather with a bit more work and a lot less pressure on the brush.

As for the shave, Slim wide open and ready to go, it was smooth and only one minor problem of a tiny nick on my right cheek near the cheekbone. That is something that happens occasionally and I blame it on adding a bit too much pressure at that spot, especially with an aggressive razor. So, I'm not blaming that on the blade. Alum stung a bit in places so the blade definitely was more aggressive in that setting. Clearly a bit sharper than some but not so sharp as to become harsh.

The Super-Max Platinum scores an "A" in my book. Three shaves, all very near BBS and no blood caused by the blade. Is Super-Max the value leader in DE blades? Not gonna rule on that yet. Tomorrow I'll move to the next one, keeping the Slim in play. The next blade up is the Super-Max Titanium. I'll be on my best technique for sure with this one and on alert for any extra irritation or problems. As I mentioned before, I have a reaction to a titanium ring if I try to wear it more than a day or two at a time. If there's a titanium sensitivity I suspect it will show up even more by dragging a hyper-sharp blade coated in it over my face. Breaking the skin isn't an option. And, yes, if there is any sign of a reaction at any point with the titanium blade I'll call that one to a halt and take the other one out of the trial.

Hope your weekend is great so far! My Friday is tomorrow and I'm ready for it!! I had planned some down time for my weekend but have a problem.

Awesome shave this morning. The razor is beautiful and very light. I have the DOC and now this one. They share the same handle, and I think are made of zamak. But this razor is shaves way different . I say it's mild but more on the medium side. It's very efficient and shaves smooth.

After the beating my face got from the Sabi Ivory Handle it felt like heaven to use my good old Super Speed and it gave me an awesome BBS shave. The Glacial Lemon Chill soap's intense freeze started right away and each pass increased it ten times, or so over. I find the Glacial Unscented balm has such wonderful protection against dryness or irritation and the Lemon Chill witch hazel smells so beautiful with a monstrous menthol punch of its own! :happy088: :happy088:

Wishing you all a great Sunday! :)
