    Razor: Post-War English Aluminium Tech
    Blade: Dorco STD-301 (a.k.a., Dollar Store) (1)
    Brush: Razorock Plissoft 22
    Cream: KMF fragrance-free
    Post: Alum, Listerine, WH

This was a shave so ill-advised that I should have done it last month. First of all, my last shave was Thursday, so I was working against three days of growth. What makes it MAYhem-worthy is that I got it in my head to try pairing a razor I've not particularly enjoyed with a blade I've positively hated.

British Tech razors are legendary in the forums for their efficiency. The one I have is a post-War version with an Aluminium baseplate and handle. The baseplate on this razor is narrower than on the US version and the blade is bent slightly differently. This gives it a very different feel, one which hasn't really worked for me so far.

The Dorco STD-301 blade is the OEM blade which is sold by Family Dollar and Dollar General. I know a number of DENizens have good luck with these blades, but I've just found them tuggy and uncomfortable.

The combination of these two should be a recipe for disaster, right? Well, not really... There were some uncomfortable moments, but nothing earth shattering and most probably had more to do with the extra beard growth. I actually had the chance to think about the shave and realize that my issue with the blade seems to be the coating (or lack thereof). In the end, I'd call it a DFS (not the best shave ever, but far from the worst) with no noise from the Alum.

On the whole, it reminded me of my attempts at daring do last month- all working surprisingly well. (Except the Chinese SE blade which didn't work at all.)

Clint, congratulations on your anniversary! And I'm glad to hear your Mom is doing better and that her problem was a relatively quick and easy fix with a meds change.

Chris, sorry to hear your daughter's recovery is getting a bit dragged out and she's feeling down about that. Hospitals are no fun. I will continue to say prayers for her recovery and for some patience and serenity for her in the meantime.

Thank you . I have talked with her a couple of times today and she seems to be doing well. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

It was a long hard week at work, and about all I could do was to sort of keep up with you guys. I even skipped a couple of shaves this week, which is unusual for me. But I gotta tell you, it was hot last week. When you are a Minnesota boy, anything above 85 and it is getting down right miserable to work in. (I am sure some of you are laughing..) That means that a couple of beers taste REALLY good when you get done at the end of the day, but add them to a full stomach, and a shave can jump to the bottom of a guy's to do list awfully quickly.

I got a couple in though:

The Glacial Lemony Orange was exactly what I wanted when I got out of the shower. I followed with some Stirling Grapefruit splash that has a ton of menthol added. Good finish to the day.

Tired, but had a couple days to get rid of, and had a couple few beers in me, so went with the safety razor. Well, I guess maybe a Mongoose with a Super in it isn't all that safe, but it went fine.

It was really nice to hit my own bathroom when I got home.

No matter what one thinks about synthetics in general, you can't deny that they perform, and this 26mm Plisson Type is no exception. For how soft it is, it is almost amazing how quickly it chews through soap and makes it into lather. It is an excellent brush. Hard to beat for the twelve bucks.

I love shaving with the Henckels because it has such crazy loud audible feedback. I'm not sure if it is just because it is bigger (13/16) and hollow, or if the stainless steel adds to the noise. Either way, it is a really fun razor to use. I was also using the greatest soap on earth, so it turned out to be a nearly perfect shave.

Have a great rest of your Sunday.

Only chortling. Not outright laughing. It's all based on what you're used to. For the last while (weeks) the daytime temperatures have been mid to upper 80's, and the nighttime in the mid 70's. In the middle of hurricane season? That's miserable. Ask @Bama Samurai or @DaltonGang.

I hear you, and I totally understand the humorous part. We get the exact opposite when you guys from down south come up here to work in the winter.

85-90 degrees, is downright springtime, in Houston. It's all about the Humidity though. I've known several neighbors that have moved to Houston, from Wisconsin, and Minnesota, and for the first few summer's , anything over 80 degrees about put them into a heat stroke. It's almost funny to watch and hear them talk about it.

Canadian family. People down here in the Cool and Wet season seem to think I'm nuts when I go out and get things out of my car in shorts - at 50 degrees. Ottawa in December, however. that was nice.

Thank you. I am not doing a darn thing today. Kind of feel like I am wasting the day, but just enjoying being a bum. It helps that my son is home for a few weeks, so he is picking up my slack during the week when I am gone.

It's a no shave day for me today. I had my shave all lined up and then I got a text about a problem on the project I have helping out with in California. There are some bad things going on over there right now, and by the time I got all the update, it was time to leave for church. I hope everyone is having a great day.

    Razor: Gillette President (Y1)(1953)
    Blade: Voskhod Teflon Coated (2)
Brush: Shavemac ATG LE The Rowl Silvertip
    Soap: Nuavia Rossa
    Aftershave: Floid Vigoroso
Bowl: The Distinctive Goat Sinker Cypress

Excellent 3 passes with a light touch up around my usual trouble spots. Shavemac handles and knots are probably the best I had in recent months. The quality of the knots are exceptional in a time when good knots are getting harder to find.

Your yard is beautiful this time of year. I know that for me, because it is only in that lush stage for a few months out of the year, I think I appreciate it more.

Sucks when those kinds of calls come in on the weekend. Hard not to be preoccupied for the rest of your day. Hope it all stays smooooth.

    Jason ,

Yesterday I got the 30DC brush and it is awesome!!

Today to was brought up to the front of the line. Excellent backbone and still soft as a .. as soft as I like to be!!

It is now my longest handle with the biggest knot and I feel extremely fortunate to have one. I will cherish it forever.

Thank you Jason for the hard work you put in. It is truly a beautiful brush.

Also, the way it came out, it really compliments my new scuttle perfectly.
