    Option 5

    Brothers Bristles with Tuxedo
    Fine Italian Citrus

Weekends are entirely too short and like it or not it is back to work today. A good shave will certainly help the morning and this lineup delivered. The BB brush with the Tuxedo knot whipped up the Italian Citrus easily. With its futuristic looks the Option 5 is not for everybody but it really shaves very well. I would say that its efficiency is similar to the ATT R1 but with less blade feel. Three passes and minor touch ups ended in a near BBS. A spash of the matching Fine Italian aftershave and I think I am ready for the day. I hope everyone has a great Monday.

Got one of the closest shaves of my life this morning. Yesterday I picked up a GEM Damaskeene and took it out for a spin this morning, for menthol Mondays. It was very smooth and left no after discomfort. Even under my jaw line and the base of my neck is smooth with no stubble at all. I have found my new best friend.

I am glad to hear that the problem has been identified and now they can start treating the problem instead of the symptoms. Gods speed on a quick recovery. I will continue to pray for you and your family.

This blade definitely isn't quite as smooth, but it is still shaving. I did two passes for a DFS. The menthol felt good on what is looking to be a relatively cool, but humid day. I hope everyone has a great day!

This morning I decided to break in the 30DC LE brush fitted with the Razorock Sinthetic Silvertip. Wow, is this thing great! Not only does it look great, it's performance and comfort in the hand is outstanding. I absolutely love this thing, Jason @jtspartan! (Also, shout out to Rick @RyX for the cypress, which makes it extra special for me.) Anyway, I went back to the TOBS St. James this morning and decided to try out my Fatboy again, to initiate some learning.

Follow along, there is a question here at the end, for those of you more learned in the ways of the razor than me.

Although my slim is my "go to" razor, I've now shaved with enough of a variety of razors to be confident with most of them, and usually found that I can get dialed in reasonably quickly and get a good shave from most of them. The exception has been my Fatboy. It still produces a DFS+, but is what I would consider a "rough" shave. The net result is fine, but the blade is always very uncomfortable on my face, regardless of the angle I use. Until I learned something today that made me question if something is off with the razor. When I first tried the Fatboy a few weeks ago, I set it at a 4, where I like my Slim dialed in at the moment. Rough shave. I heard that the Fatboy can shave more aggressively than the Slim, so I dialed it back to 3. Still rough shave. Today I dialed it back to 2. Horribly rough shave for the first two passes. I then looked at the side of the razor and realized that there was virtually no curve (i.e. tension) on the blade at all, so I dialed it up to 5. Suddenly it smoothed out and became comfortable. Apparently, I couldn't get the blade angle shallow enough until I dialed it to a more aggressive setting, so the blade was basically just scraping my face.

So my question is "Is there this much variation between razors that the above is normal and to be expected, or is there something potentially that is "off" with this Fatboy?" I can just dial it up aggressively and call it a day, but it's making me wonder if there is potentially more to address here. I've considered sending it off to Delta Echo for a fancy paint job, and part of me wonders if its worth it just to have it checked out. Part of me wonders if its a waste of money if something truly is "off" about the razor. Thoughts?

    Blade Focus Shave

Pre: Copious amounts of hot water
    Razor: Schick Korona era ?
    Blade: Gillette Silver Blue
    Brush: Omega 6212 Silvertip
Cream: C O Bigelow Premium Shaving Cream
Post: Hot/Cold rinse, alum block, cold towelx2, Dominello Vitali Calming Post Shave Moisturizer
    After Shave: Proraso Green

Second shave with the Korona/GSB combo. What a great shave! 2.5 passes, no clean up on my neck. It really does remind me of my shaves with the Super Speed Black Tip. The Omega 6212 provided a great lathering from the C O Bigelow.
Splashed on some Proraso Green A/S and a new work week is underway. Lucked out with my post assignment this week. My area is the only one in the warehouse with A/C.
    Life is good.
    Have a fantastic Monday y'all!

I would check with Capt Murphy on B&B and ask him how to check the settings on the Fatboy. It could be that it is nothing seriously wrong but that the adjustments are not representative of where the blade gaps should be.
