It is a TOP razor and I believe it's a JWest. I haven't had time to research it yet. It has no pitting and should clean up nice. Thanks.

There's another granny somewhere with tire tracks across her back. This was a steal. So hoping it proves to be an Thuri or even just a regular Escher or...?

Too bad none of our honing experts are in my neighborhood and there are no wet shaving conventions around to get an opinion from someone with experience. :kngt:

Slowly, slowly I am inching more into the honing world. For this I am indebted to that wee enabler and his sharp eye Mr. @Billyfergie :D

Definitely a cool spot it's in the Grove Arcade so there's restaurants and other shops if you want to make a day of it.
Also I'm thinking about starting a meet up here in Charlotte for wet shaving as well.

So after the luck I had with my last 1912 GEM I decided to try my luck again at a couple of new antique shoppes today. Scored another GEM. This time I picked up a Damaskeene GEM.

The case is a little rough looking but it is from what I can figure 101yrs old.

Can you guess what razor I will be using in the morning?

Then Thursday I was at another local shop and ran across this paddle strop. I was really wanting one and the price wasn't bad. I was wanting one to put with my honing supplies. All of my rehab and honing supplies or in the basement were I can go to be left alone. I will use it as is then when the leather gets to bad I'll take it in to one of the local Amish tack shops.

Close to 100 Years, I found it in this ad from 1919. There may be an earlier version of the ad, I just don't have it.

What should these go for? I see a lot of these around some for what appears pretty cheap ~15 then others up to 50 bucks or so.

As always, what you should pay for one is subject to how much you are willing to spend. With that being said, there are a tremendous amount of Rolls Razors available in great condition in my area so I am on the cheaper side of the coin. IF you are planning to invest time and money into one you should read the invaluable guide "The "what is" and " how to" thread for the Rolls Razor" written by @gregindallas that I keep bookmarked at all times.

Edit: After looking at that auction site, I suggest getting to know the Antique shops within a reasonable driving limit to your house which will be generally cheaper. I find the prices online ridiculously high and quite a few for sale have broken stones that are well camouflaged by blade placement and other means so be very cautious and ask the seller questions before pulling the trigger. Don't be afraid to ask for a confirmation picture and ask that the handle be shipped outside the case so you don't end up with a stone that was "broken in shipping."
