Someone went on vaca, and I got better than a tee-shirt! (Thank you Chris @Bama Samarui) I tried a sample of Truefitt & Hill cream lavender from The Pass Around Box. Don't recall it being spectacular or lousy. This hard soap is worth recommending. I didn't grab a synth or boar brush as is my usual for milled products. Badgers have given me issues when loading other than creams. No worries here. Opened the box, unwrapped the refill puck, and installed it what I'm guessing is upside down. The rounded end of the shape may be designed for the wooden bowl, but the flat end snugged right into a Grundtal screwtop Ikea dish. Moistened the soap with cool tap water, spun the dish to avoid any more tangles in the Whipped Dog knot, and went to the beard to build lather. First time using it so I had no expectations. It produced plenty, and I could see the brush held more. A little between finger and thumb showed how much slip and slide this stuff gives. WTG with the A-5 Gillette, relathered for ATG. Then I checked to see about the residual properties. Slippery stuff. A little more water in the brush, another face full of lather. XTG, spot lathered for touch ups. The soap rinses clean with no residue on razor or bowl. That amazed me for how much glide it leaves after a pass. A DFS+ finish that was pleasantly hydrating.
From the T&F website the scent is,"
Soft base notes of sandalwood, tonka and cedarwood, while delicate middle accords of lavender, thyme and jasmin blend easily with fruity twists of pineapple and melon. Top notes of lemon and bergamot give a perfect finishing touch." To my nose I get the light lemon. No where near an Arko deep citronella. I think this will be my Soap 'o the Week!
Good Shaves Y'all!
