Optimal shave today. Sudsy Soapery makes top shelf lather, and CL provided the excellent scent. Three smooth and easy passes with a voskhod under the R6 plate. Santal Auster is a creamy sandalwood that compliments citrus very nicely. Cryogen put a cold layer on from the start - welcome on a humid summer morning.
    Prep: Cryogen
Soap: Sudsy Soapery Delor de Treget
    Brush: Brothers Bristles Bronze Shadow
    Razor: Rockwell 6s R6
    Blade: voskhod
    AS: Chatillon Lux Santal Auster[IMG]

Not much to say other than that that I enjoyed the Glacial Wintergreen trio's mega-freeze so much and got an excellent three pass BBS shave! :happy088: :happy088:

Mastro Livi Club Razor 2017 it's here, at last!

My Mastro Livi Club Razor 2017 Edition is finally here in my hands and proudly part of my straight razor collection. Yesterday I received my Club Razor 2017 and when I opened the box I have been both speechless and happy for the impeccable beauty of this latest Mastro Livi creation exclusively made for the member of Google+ Mastro Livi Club. As for the shave, it confirmed all the good things I could experience when I tested the prototype of this razor. Impeccable smoothness and comfort in shaving, this straight razor gave me a magnificent shave with my usual three passes and it was a real joy to use. I wish I could make four or five passes, however after the second pass my skin was already smooth and received a very close shave. I am absolutely very happy about this straight razor and very proud about what we members of Mastro Livi Club have been capable of creating with their votes and the fundamental help and talent of Mastro Livi who created this exclusive and breathtaking razor!

Hyperaggressive shave, too rich for my blood, but it worked. Felt like I was using a Rolls but not as smooth. May keep it to trim sideburns and such but that's about it. Great lather, tho.

I've been soooo busy lately. Even though I continue to benefit from all of the info on this site and the ongoing conversation, I must admit I have not contributed as much as I would like. So, I will take a few moments to post up my SOTD.

After snatching up a jar of Chiseled Face Civet last night, I decided to go to my current ATF, Chiseled Face Rhinoceros. The lather is as good as I've ever used and the scent is sublime.

I lathered up a HUGE bowl of this creamy slick lather with my Omega 10098 big boar using a suribachi bowl and applied generously. Although I've been focusing on straights, that is pretty much limited to the weekends, so this week I've been using my 1948 aristocrat with a Gillette Silver Blue blade. I took a slow methodical two pass shave for a solid BBS followed up by some AoS Aud Aftershave Balm. I had 1/3 of a sample of Zoologist Rhinoceros parfum left to spray on as a finisher and layered it with some AoS Aud cologne.

As a note about the scent of the Rhinoceros. The soap made by Chiseled Face is smoky, woody & boozy. The cologne has the same scent as the soap as a top note, but settles in with a green vetiver that lingers all day. I found that the AoS Aud scent pairs very well with the soap and does not have the green vetiver on they dry down. I am very interested in getting a sample of the new AoS Bourbon Amber cologne to see how it marries with the scent of this soap.

Thats all for today, keep your razors sharp and your styptic stick handy. Great Shaves, Brian.

Route 66 Lavender Woods today. 20 seconds to load the JB Silvertip brush. Easy, thick, slick, lather. I moved the Vintage Wilkinson Sword “Light Brigade” to the Fat Boy. Excellent smooth, close shave. I finished with Burberry Brit EdT.

    Prep - Hot shower
    Razor - Gillette SS Flare
    Blade - Gillette 7 O'Clock yellow (5th or 6th shave)
    Soap - Stirling Ben Franklin
    Brush - Vintage Made Rite
    Post - Cold water
3 passes no irritation, but I skipped xtg today as I tend to struggle with it.

Today was a shave of attrition. I'm currently on my 5th or 6th shave with the same blade which if a new high for me and I'm down to the tiniest little bit of Ben Franklin left but kept adding water and it whipped up great gave me yet another great shave.

I'm venturing into new waters as most of the blades I've tried after 2 or 3 shaves started to feel very rough on the face. This has been a great surprise with the 7 O'Clock. Additionally I saw where someone mentioned flipping the blade each shave which I have done for the first time with this blade. Maybe I hit a magic combination for me or my technique is finally getting
better but this morning was probably my best shave to date, and it was with a blade likely on it's 6th use! My love for Stirling and Ben Franklin continue to grow.
