The handle is not wrapped with cord but good idea.

The blade holder rest tight against the spine so there is no wiggle, the edge does not make contact with the holder. It is a big blade 8/8 and a half hollow ground. When the cord is wrapped right the razor is very secure.

Another great shave with the Parker. I went with a Vie-Long Horse and vintage Colgate Barber shop soap. Second shave on the half Shark was just as smooth as could be. Followed it all up with Grey Flannel. This scent is great!

Who is the handsome dude with the burley mustache? H. M. Strough. He was a cotton farmer in Glendale, AZ until just before the Great Depression when he traded his farm for a home construction business in Phoenix. He and his family built homes in what is now one of the coolest historical districts in Phoenix. He passed away on 1938. He was my Great, Great Grandfather.

Almost two years ago, I found his razor, barber's hone, strop, and brush in a steamer trunk at my Grandmother's house, which was purchased right after Grandpa Strough passed away, with seven generations of the family having lived in the house.

Once I got them home, I cleaned up the Frank Swatty hone, and restored the Strop by careful cleaning and conditioning the leather with olive oil over several months. I sent the razor to Osiris Blades, where Alfonzo cleaned up the steel and added faux tortoise shell acrylic scales. Greg Snyder honed it up. Today is the first use.

I then sent the brush to @jimjo1031 for a restore. I wanted to keep the age, but seal the wood so it wouldn't get any worse. Jim cleaned it and sealed it, then set a new boar knot in it. I have been using the brush all month to get the knot broken in.

So for my Father's Day shave, I am using some heirloom hardware. This shave has been a long time coming. I did three passes, and landed a DFS. The brush is scrtichy, but has great backbone. The razor is well balanced. The brass with the tortoise shell looks awesome. The fresh edge was great, although I did use a few strokes on the Swatty and strop to pull any oxidation off it.

It was a wonderful shave, and I am very happy with the results. Happy Father's Day everyone!

We visited the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park this morning. It's a terrific space next to Mobile Bay that houses the USS Alabama battleship, the USS Drum submarine, and a large aircraft hangar with all types of planes. It's a real treasure to visit.

I spied some shaving goods. These two pictures are recreations of the ship store. I tried to grab the shaving and grooming supplies.

Those blades in the yellow and green box on the bottom right of the second photo say Gillette. I don't know if all of these are facsimiles or not, but it was still pretty neat.

Here is an officers quarters onboard the USS Drum:

My wife's maternal grandfather served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Marines Detachment aboard the USS Alabama. We found his picture in the Marine area down below. So we were celebrating a several generation Fathers Day today.

It was a fun morning followed by a big lunch of ribs, fried okra, onion rings, and collard greens. I'll finish off with a shot of me and my little boy. His name is Wilson, which helps explain my avatar (that sign I just happened upon one day in an old pharmacy). I'm glad to see all the smiles and great stories in the thread today and this past week!
