Huh. I don't know what my family is, historically, in the religion department. Canadian of Irish/English/Belgian stock, but that's not why I insisted on multiple names.
I don't know about here, but on The Rockford Files, Sgt. Becker(Joe Santos) quite often called Jim Rockford(James Garner) Jimbo.
Pretty simple, really. I wanted her to have choices later in life. The gummint is getting worse and worse about people not using their 'official' name. I remember that for a lot of people, mostly girls, in high school, they changed back and forth between first and middle names trying to decide what fit them the best. So, she has four names to choose from instead of two, and the government can just flip off. (not going to list the names in public. I'd do it in a PM)
As a Jim, I guess I have to make myself known pr Jayaruh will beat me silly with one of his brush handle blanks.
First I've seen this Jim Thread. My middle name is James... after my father whose first name was James, but everyone called him Jim. Do I get an honorary membership in the Jim Thread?
Yes, you do. We named my son James Philip, but we call him Philip. He is sort of named for me except that I am really a Jimmie. We didn't want to saddle him with that name, and one Jim in the family was enough.
Anudder suspect from a long line of James'. There was Edward James then James Armstrong then James Arthur and it got stuck there with another James Arthur and then a third James Arthur who went through a traumatic childhood of being called juvenile variations of "The Third".
Dan, my middle name is also James. There must be many of us. Shall we get our own thread? P.s. mine is after my great grandfather, and was my dad's middle name, and my grandad's middle name. And now it's my son Jacob's too.
This thread has gone silent for a while and was just brought to my attention. So, I am giving it a bump to see if we have any more Jims out there. I have been running into a bunch of Jims in real life lately. Jim, Jimmy, Jimbo, James, Jamie, Jacob, Jake, ... They are all around us.
