I may be on vacation but I still maintained my usual shaves for a Tuesday. Head shave first with a 23c and Astra then the first shave of a Trial with the Super-Max Blue Diamond Titanium. My wife gave me a bit of a hard time about shaving since I'm off work but I explained head shaves get more difficult with more days between shaves. Although it would be a good excuse to try a head shave with a TSR. I've used the pain stick a few times but never a traditional straight. Yep, I'm thinking.

The Super-Max Blue Diamond is up for trial. It's a titanium coated stainless blade and, as you can see on the wrapper, is made from imported special Swedish steel. What's so special about the Swedish steel? Is it different than the Swedish steel used in the Rapira Swede? Does it glow with magical fairy dust? Does it talk like the Muppet's Swedish Chef? Does it float in midair as it drops into place in the razor? Well, I didn't notice any of those things so I'll stick to what I did notice.

The blade is smooth but not the sharpest by a bit. With the Fatboy in mild mode I had a time getting to DFS on two passes and touch ups. I made it, but it's nothing special. With the overall feel, though, I suspect it will shine over the next couple of days. Or, it will be dull enough to be a "meh" kind of blade. It has that possibility as well.

Again, as with the Super-Max Titanium, no sign of extra irritation on my part due to titanium exposure so that's good. I'm hoping it will step up its game on the next shave to keep it in good graces with its cousins, all of whom have been quite high on the shaving satisfaction list.

Finally got to the Post Office today and got 100 Russians out of mail jail. Very quick shipping time, actually, as this batch of Sharp Stars came through St. Pete's on their way instead of Moscow. Considering how far East of Moscow they started it was pretty impressive actually. I noticed the seller is stamping his labels with "Russian Shaving House" and it looks like he has some Russian soaps/creams available now too. Going to have to look into that. He had offered a gift with the Sharp Stars as he did last time. Last time he sent an extra tuck of a couple of Rapira brands. This time only one tuck and it sticks out like a sore thumb. Lord?! Maybe he's trying to branch out in his newly named shop.

Hi Roderick, thanks for the compliments. I am pretty impressed with most of the Gillette Blue Blades I have used. Sometimes I get a bad one, but by and by they are very good. I like them. Have a good night my friend!

    Today's shave
Hot water wash with Nivea men's face wash and a washcloth
    Brothers Bristles /ace black badger
    (Bombed) Soap Commander Respect
    Barbssol floating head
    Astra ss (2)
    Iced M&L Florida Water (atomized)
Today's shave was incredible. Huge difference from kissing your sister. The lather was cool and rich, LIMEY tart with a bit of patchouli to ground it out. Three passes with the floating head, no need for incessant bluffing to get close. And the bbs results I'm more used to. Finished with iced Florida Water, for just the right about of sting and freeze to start a muggy Florida day.
Hope y'all did as well, or better. 20170621_073637_resized.jpg

I decided to directly compare my two favorite razors: the Merkur Futur and the Rockwell 6s. The Futur had cured my RAD for about a year, until I held a Rockwell at the Maggard's meet last month. Daunted by the price of the 6s, I traded for a 2c, the budget chrome model, and loved the shaves it gave. Within 48 hours of getting the 2c, I ordered a 6s. Amazingly close and above all comfortable shaves followed one after the other.
Today I used the Futur set on six (as usual for me) on my right, and the 6s with R6 plate on the left , both with a new voskhod blade. Wholly Kaw Monaco Royale provided the lather. I did three passes, and I have to say the Rockwell is superior. I could feel the blade much more with the Futur - it felt on the verge of nicking, but the 6s was butter smooth all the way. I also found that the 6s did a better job along my jawline - closer and more comfortable there.
It's not a blow out, but the Rockwell is noticably better for me - the best combination of efficiency and comfort I've found so far.
    Prep: Chattilon Lux butter
    Soap: Wholly Kaw Monaco Royale
    Brush: Brothers Bristles Bronze Shadow
    Razors: Merkur Futur (6), Rockwell 6s R6
    Blade: voskhod
AS: Wholly Kaw Monaco Royale Toner[IMG]

You guys will never believe this - I grabbed the wrong soap by mistake!

Instead of using the Glacial Lemon Chill, I took the Electric Sheep sample which I brought with me here. but all turned out very well. I still wound up with an awesome shave which even a professional barber couldn't have done better. The scent of this soap to me, is beautiful and the lather is so rich as well as protective and cushiony because of the mutton tallow formula. Its skincare like all my Stirling soaps is perfect. I used a little moisturizer afterwards but I could easily have skipped it. My 1950's Super Speed cleaned me up so well in three passes with the help of the Astra blade and the Pe Re Ja Lemon cologne has such a lovely scent with a great refreshing effect. It also makes a good, bracing aftershave. To this day I can't get over how fabulous my Plissoft synthetic brush is!
