After being on the road and enjoying a little Schick love I went back to perhaps my favorite straight. The 1941 Russian from the ZTV factory. It spent a little time on a white Arkie first. I may have overdone it a little bit as it was a touch harsher than usual. :scared003:

    Williams Wednesday
Got home from night shift and had a shower and loaded the big Comet brush with Williams Mug and face lathered to make loads of lather. The chick in the E3 Canadian Schick made short work of the previous days whiskers. Rubbed on some Nivea Cool Kick ASB and went to bed.
    Have a great evening gentlemen.

Very nice injector shave today. BBS in 3 passes, but did get a couple of weepers. Going to use the injectors for a little while to get the technique back, it's been too long.[IMG]

    Brush: - Semogue Special Edition 2012 Badger/Boar knot 24/55mm
    Cream/Soap: - Stirling Island Man
Razor: - Colonial General Aluminum Head with the iKon Bulldog Handle
    Blade: - Schick Proline P-30 #8
Post: - Thayers Witch Hazel 'Lemon' / Bulldog Original Aftershave Balm

I really enjoy the Stirling Island Man shaving soap the color of the soap is light blue when you open the lid and the scent smell soft sweet and relax on my nose, not too sweet that you might hate it straight away and it does smell very similar to Palmolive Classic European shave stick with a mixture of Bay Rum together. I can only smell the bergamot, lime, mandarin, ginger, sugarcane, musk, and rum, this Stirling Island Man shaving soap is worth it to have this in your den.

    Trials and Tribulations

    June 21

    Razor - 1959 (E4) Gillette Fatboy (6)
    Blade - [IMG] (2)
    Soap - Arko
    Brush - Jayaruh #46
    Post - Alum

First of all, yes, the dead pig was delicious. A full rack of ribs with grilled corn, homemade potato salad followed by fudge swirl ice cream on angel food. The fact I'm not in a diabetic coma right now is a bit of a miracle.

The trial shave turned a bit into a tribulation shave tonight. The Blue Diamond is not, from what I can tell, the same as the SM Titanium blade. I'm not sure whether the steel is different, the grind, or just the coating, but it is not as sharp as the Titanium blade. And, the Titanium isn't exactly the sharpest blade you'll find. This one, however, is showing its lack of edge pretty quickly.

Normally on the 6 setting I expect a dull blade to perk up from its trial at 3. This one did not pick up much if any. I got to DFS but the cost was irritation. Rather warm alum and the after-effect of that little bit of heat on my neck and face. Add some dragging to the shave even at the prime setting for me and you have a blade that is underwhelming. I'm not really looking forward to finishing this one out but I will. I'm nothing if not thorough. No blood or other issues, just an unacceptable feel and finish to the whole thing.

I received a special delivery from Canada today. Thanks to @Screwtape who sent me the following:

He asked me to try the Topaz Platinum while I was trialing Indian blades (Super-Max of course) and I readily agreed. We both are a bit puzzled by the description of "platinum sputtered edges". What exactly is a sputtered edge?! We'll find out in a few days. He was also generous and sent some Pal blades along that I wasn't expecting. Old timers, these, and I look forward to taking one for a spin. In a suitably vintage razor, of course.

    Fragrance - Tommy Hilfiger EDT
Aftershave - '95 Liquid Labels Post Shave Toner (Not pictured)
Shave Soap - Catie's Bubbles '95 Liquid Labels Luxury Formula
Deodorant - Lucky Girl Boutique's Pure Body Delights "Tommy Boy"
    Pre-Shave Oil - Lather & Wood "Unscented"
Post-Shave Balm - Nicci Marie Hyaluronic Acid Anti-Aging Serum
    Razor - Merkur "1904"
    Blade - BiC Chrome-Platnium
Razor Stand - ThinkGeek Executive Knight Pen Holder
Brush - London Cutlers Antique Silver Modified Synthetic Boar
Brush Stand - Jac Zagoory's Butterfly Pen Stand
Soap Bowl - Paul Revere silver plated replica sugar bowl

A few lineup changes with this kit today. Going with the modern Tommy Hilfiger EDT fragrance instead of the expensive and uncommon vintage cologne....AND....going with the '95 Liquid Labels post-shave toner instead of the vintage and rare Tommy Hilfiger aftershave that took some time to find and procure. I'm going with the Merkur "1904" razor as the stunt double stand-in in place of my prize Gillette antique ABC Empire razor.

How the Ugly Duckling Became a Beautiful Swan

Last month, in a forum about shaving, have been published a series of very negative comments about Mastro Livi razors and quality. It has evidently been a deliberate act of bashing without proving a word of what these persons were saying. I do not want to talk about this here: those who want to know more can read Mastro Livi's response in his website. I want to talk about this fabulous and beautiful straight razor instead. Let me say this is the straight razor the former owner was complaining about in this shaving forum and returned it to Mastro Livi and asked him to discard it. The razor was severely damaged by an improper and very bad honing. Mastro Livi reground it, fixed the bad geometry this person caused with his very unskilled honing skill and gave this razor a new life. Because of the regrinding, the razor has now an extra full hollow ground - this makes it quite a great singer - the blade is unavoidably a little shorter than the original one, it is however a fabulous shave. This razor, before Mastro Livi fixed it, was a Club Razor 2016 and the former owner deliberately destroyed it and then tried to blame Mastro Livi for that. He returned it to Mastro Livi and asked him to discard the razor. Mastro Livi magnificently repaired it and - as he did not think selling this razor would have been honest because it is a used razor - he gave it to me. And I am very very happy - and proud - to own this beautiful masterpiece. Welcome to my collection, beautiful and singing swan! Forget about the ugly duckling you were and how the former owner badly mistreated you and reduced you in that shameful condition!
