Another great shave this morning. The Fine Italian Citrus was a joy to use this morning. The soap is very easy to lather, slick and has a great scent. A standard three pass shave with minimal touch ups ended in my normal near BBS shave. A splash of the matching aftershave was a perfect end to to the shave. I hope everyone has a great Friday.

  6. Great picture, Clint! The Jade handle Simpsons is beautiful.
  7. Thank you Jim. I love this Jade "Amigos" brush and it was only a few dollars more than the ivory. Most of the color options never make it onto their website. The trick is to follow Simpson on Twitter and/or Instagram and when you see one posted, send them an email telling them you are interested. That's what Mark, Doug and I did for our Jade brushes.

    Fine Fresh Vetiver AS

I think this is the last shave on this blade. I got a couple of weepers as I found myself working through some tugging. It was a decent run, though, as I have never gone 16 shaves on one blade before. The Fine Fresh Vetiver made for a nice finish as I head out the door for my Friday. I hope everyone has a great day!

  9. At the beginning of this month, I announced that my focus would be taking better care of my brushes. I don't use the same one two days in a row, and I do my best to rinse after the shave, as well as after just getting it wet prior to the shave, but some white residue remains after it's all done. Is this where the "vinegar" comes in(that I've read people use)?

Day 7 of the Jr focus, 3rd day with a SharpStar. Excellent lather today with the Baker St sample chosen as it was under the Recommended Pairings list for this AS on the Chatillon Lux website. Had an uneventful, pleasant near BBS this morning. Finished with the first use of the Unconditional Surrender. These Chatillon Lux aftershaves are nothing like I've used before. The scents are just nothing like anything else I own. They will take me a bit to render an opinion on, I think. The face feel of the Gratiot League Square was excellent during the day yesterday. Expect more of the same today with this product.
I know I'm supposed to be focussing on the razor, but to be honest, the shaves are just pretty much the same every day. Will switch out blades tomorrow for the sake of the focus.
    Have a great day all!

23 June 2017 TGIF Blade Focus Shave

Pre: Much hot water, soap out of the jar and a hot towel
    Razor: 1966 Schick Krona
    Blade: Shark Super Chrome
    Brush: Omega 10098
    Soap: Route 66 "Rum Runner"
Post: Hot/Cold rinse, alum block, cold towelx2, Dominello Vitali Calming Post Shave Moisturizer
After Shave: Clubman Virgin Island Bay Rum

I have come up with a new tradition(for me anyway). My TGIF shaves will now be made with @Salty Belle's Route 66 "Rum Runner" soap exclusively.
So this morning I fired up the 10098 and whipped up a great lathering that was slick, smelled great and left a great face feel at the end. There was some lingering good stink at the end that melded well with the VIBR.
This was the last shave for the Krona/Shark pairing. 2.5 pass DFS+.
I can see this going the same way as my Super Speed Black Tip audition, as these two razors seem to share the same dynamic. Next up, the pride of the Rodina, VOSKHOD!
Splashed on some VIBR and the Caribbean came to NJ.
    :happy069: No worries mon!
Have a great shave, have a great day!!

  16. June 23, 2017- Injectors

    Razor: Schick J1
    Blade: Personna
    Brush: Razorock Plissoft 22
    Cream: KMF fragrance-free
    Post: Alum, Listerine, WH

Since two new to me Injectors arrived today (actually, yesterday but they weren't in my hand until a little while ago), I figured I'd take a diversion with my favorite Injector- the Schick J1. No issues, just an easy DFS.

The next few shaves should be interesting, though. The two new razors are an E2 and a G1. I've never used an E before and my first experiences with a G1 were okay, but not totally to my liking. I ended up trading that G1 and a sample of Cella to @RyX for a Fatboy. So, now I get to see how I feel about the even more aggressive E and whether my tastes have changed enough to now appreciate the G.

I have both modern Personna and Chick blades. Any recommendations?

  19. The Personna blades were not to my liking. The Chicks are far better in my estimation. The E will certainly be more aggressive than the G and J models. But, I find the E to be quite efficient. Good luck! I look forward to your report.
