I like my cobs the most. Not sure if that has to do with how they smoke though. I will probablypick up a meerschaum in the near future just because.
I have one cob, sometimes I will use it to try new stuff. My briar pipes are generally dedicated to either a particular blend, or a genre. But let's be honest, I really only smoke two things.... VA and Straight Burley. I don't stray much. OGS is definitely my "siganture* tobacco.
Oh, it's been about 15 or so years. From what I remember it was a variety. Cherry and a few English blends. I had about 5 I always kept on hand. I usually only smoked at work, and outside. But work is a no go now, and outside is the only option.
Very cool. I am really in to VA based flake tobaccos, also aged Burley. We're currently living in a golden age of tobacco and pipes, due to the web. And welcome to our little pipe thread!
Better than any of MY meeschaums! I've been wanting one, but every time I have the money almost saved up to pull the trigger, something seems to pop up... The only meers I have are the Missouri type!
Yeah, that's nice. Half my deck is covered, plus my front porch is covered. Sometimes, though, the rain blows up under the roof. But when it's a light rain with no wind, that is prime pipe smoking.
I would venture a guess that most pipe smokers smoke outside only at home, or perhaps in a garage. I do the latter sometimes, but really prefer smoking on my deck or front porch.
Ha ha! I'm sitting here now smoking my Chacom Canadian with the the TGTBTU theme song running through my head after reading the all Van Cleef posts!
