Sticking to It! 26 June 2017 Staying with the Arko, day 57 on this stick! Think I finally have the brush dialed in all the way. Two passes of that Kung Fu stuff and it was a nod to Menthol Monday (@Yehuda D ) after some good Alum. Pretty good day, spent the day finishing off some belated projects. Life almost back to normal! Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado. Have a terrific Tuesday!
Tuesday Shave: Monday the mail gods were kind to me, a Brian Brown straight and Chiselled Face Civet (Zoologist collaboration). The razor had a fantastic edge on it, very smooth and very sharp while the soap smelled just like the perfume. This is a 7/8 full hollow blade, this size full hollow blades usually give me some trouble due to blade flex, this blade did not flex at all. Four passes and everything felt great on a slight tickle from lather left me just short of an epic shave. Irritation A Closeness A+ Smoothness A+ Sharpness A+
June 26 Head & Face Shave Gem G Bar w/ Gem carbon steel blade Omega Midget Derby shave stick Witch Hazel Aqua Velva Outstanding Shave!! My technique with DEs & SEs was already sound, but a pleasant side effect of becoming competent with a shavette has been even better technique with SEs & DE's.
June 2017!!! Trials and Tribulations - 30 DC LE Brush inaugural shave! June 26 Razor - Delta Echo New LC Blade - (1) Soap - Truefitt & Hill 1805 Brush - 30 DC LE Post - Alum I received my 30 DC LE brush in the mail today from @jtspartan and huge thanks go out to him for the idea and execution of some very fine shaving brushes! It's a gorgeous brush and I'm proud to be a part of this fine group that now has its own unique and limited edition brush. Excellent work. Also, a huge shout out and thanks to whichever of the elves on here paid for my brush. The generosity of this group and the spirit of brotherhood on here makes this a very special place on the web indeed. No place like it that I know. That goes for the Shave Den as a whole, and an extra measure of that for the 30DC. In honor of this fine brush I decided to do an all gift shave again, using the brush, my Delta Echo New LC raffle win, and the Truefitt & Hill 1805 soap. I figured the Tuxedo knot could use some British class to break it in as well. I have learned that synthetic knots are great face latherers and seem to load so much faster than any other brush. This one is no exception. A bit more backbone than the WCS brush and even more than the Maggard knot in the JR46, but it feels great and produced lather in no time. I let the New and the best Russian steel on the planet give the lather a workout and it had no issues at all. Slick and nice and the scent is really nice. My wife loves it as well so that helps. Two passes and a touch up and the baby is in the house. One of those shaves that reminds you why this is so much fun and satisfying all at once. A further comment on the brush - I love the feel of the handle. It has good length without being too long. Again, nicely done. Between this brush and the Jayaruh #46 I am going to be extremely spoiled.
Some people may die from ill-fated adventures. Others die of heart disease, seated comfortably it should be noted, whilst watching others die on television during ill fated adventures. Life is not a dress rehearsal, and it is also an inevitably fatal condition. You might take note that many of us here have already realized which of the above groups we populate. Carry on.
If it does not feel right put down the straight, slowly back away and pick up another razor. If you are in a hurry put down the straight, slowly back away and pick up another razor. If a spouse or child or pet may burst into your den mid shave put down the straight, slowly back away and pick up another razor. Don't let this discourage you, consider a learning experience.
June 27, 2017 OneBlade Core Feather (3) Romera Olive Wood Synthetic Nivea Shaving Cream Myrsol Agua Balsamica I changed thinks up a bit and went with Nivea shaving cream. The tube pretty much stays in the kit so tend to forget about it. I am glad I decided to use it today. The cream was easy to face lather and proved to be a little slicker than the Fine soap. I'm pretty sure it's the water. Three passes and touch ups left me with a near perfect shave. A splash of Balsamica and I'm ready for the trip home. I hope everyone has a great Tuesday. Looks good amigo. Safe trip home. I have the Nivea cream also. I can't remember the last time used it.
Help me out, guys! There's gotta be a CT here somewhere! Unneeded skin flap remover? DFS...DeFlapped my Skin? No extra skin flaps
Safe travels home, Clint. I hope you and your daughter had a memorable trip. The OneBlade Core makes a nice travel razor!
