I have found that pressing down hard as I load the brush opens up the knot with soap which makes face lathering easier. The knot does open up overtime. Today was the 69th time I have used the brush. Yes I am sad and keep a spreadsheet going back to 1/1/15 of what I used each day.

Thursday June 29 - Speeding onwards

Gillette Blue Tip SS / Topaz Platinum ( 3)
    30DC LE Cashmere Maple brush
    Dirty Deeds Arroyo Cactus soap
    Alum and Clubman VIBR

I used my puck of Shavey Awards soap again today. Love the cactus scent. Today I tried face lathering it. The slightly damp brush loaded quickly and then went to work on my dripping wet face. The lather was initially being laid down as a smooth, heavy but slightly thick coating, but after I dipped the tip of the brush in water very briefly, the consistency became just right. I find the soap nicely slick and protective but a little bit drying postshave compared to some others.

My razor today was a Blue Tip. It did indeed feel very mild though still quite efficient. Only two passes required for a near BBS. There are a couple places along my jaw that feel a little bit stubbly still when rubbed ATG, so some buffing would have been required to put the baby to bed. I did get the feeling that this was a particularly safe safety razor; getting any kind of nick, cut or weeper from it would require skill and determination.

Hope everyone has a good Thursday!

June 29 - Back to the Pass Around Box Samples

    Merkur 34C
    Voskhod (Day 3)
    23mm AOS Pure Badger
    DIY PSO
    Provence Sante Soap
    Alum/Thayers/AOS PSB

Seeing on another forum a thread about French soaps, I decided that I wanted to try a second one of the three being talked about. I have tried PdP and today, I chose to use Provence Sante. I do not recall which scent this one is. All I can smell is a clean soap scent that is rather light. I pressed some l pieces into my bowl and it took a while to dissolve. I read that this soap is not very thirsty so I kept the water down. Seemed to pay off well. Lather was rich, dense and thick. Slickness was just short of Stirling but still very good. Residual slickness was also good. I could feel my face nice and slick even after the lather was removed. 3 passes yielded a DFS+ ( spot or two on jawline got missed) and the alum was light on bite. Seems the Voskhod is getting better with usage. Where this soap excels is in post shave feel. I only applied balm to one half my face. An hour later, I could not tell which side was which. Nicely moisturized. I think the lack of scent was because of age. The soap in the box was a bit crumbly so I suspect it is on the older side. In all, a very nice soap.

    Have a great day everyone.

Hello Andrew. These items belonged to her Grandfather, and she asked me for more information on them. She definitely wants to keep them. The Radio Stropper interested me too. Unfortunately, I can't find much information on it.

Plasti-dip, or wrap a thin rubber band around it a few times.

Should I say 'Welcome to Houston, home of @DaltonGang and myself?

Sorry, it was Italian Barber's Rosa di Bossolasco. I think they're the same company, however. Buying from Razorock checks out through Italian Barber.

I mean, serious insect spray odour.

I have a few Razorock soaps. Son of Hermes, XX, XXX, IB Amici, Caribbean Holiday, Classic to name a few and I find them great scented. they are lighter than say Stirling but still good enough in strength. I would suggest trying others if you found the base to be good. For the price, and even for a few dollars more, I have found them very good. YMMV.

    All the best.

Good morning. Today was a nice shave, but not as good as yesterday. Yesterday will be hard to beat. I'm still struggling with my cheekbones and had a small weeper there today. Otherwise it was a DFS.
