Kanta Nyboma from Congo-Kinshasa with his entourage performing Double, Double. Listen to that electrifying guitar and check out those dancers! Oka, oka!
Mon Dieu - que c'est bon! The other evening when we went dancing, we were first sitting, chatting and having a couple of drinks with the couple who came with us. All of a sudden the DJ (from Cameroon) started playing African dance music which I LOVE. When the first song you'll hear came on a few hot-looking Congolese girls came over to our table, grabbed my wife, myself, and our friends by the arms and pulled us over to the dance floor. My wife and I freaked them out at how we dance to this music!
Another one of the songs we heard and I don't know how my wife learned how to shake it like these girls! lolllllllll
Walking out the door earlier past the rack where I keep my CD's, I just reached out and grabbed one without looking. "Bridge of Sighs" by Robin Trower.
I know this whole group personally - in fact, a couple of years ago when they were in Montreal doing a concert, I went on the stage at their invitation and sang a few songs with them, this one included. When I got off the stage to re-join my wife back to our table, a few Congolese guys and their wives were blown away and one of them asked me "Are you sure you're not Congolese? You sing in our language so beautifully and you dance so well!" My answer was in Lingala (the main Congolese language) as follows,"Merci mingi, ozali vraiment gentil et nasepeli koyoka compliment wana. Ezalaka pona ngai, nalingaka ndule ya mboka na bino mingi. Nzambe apambola yo!" (Translation) "Thank you very much and I'm happy to hear this compliment. The reason is, I love the music of your country very much. God bless you!"
