Friday shave

The thread about George Wostenholm razors inspired me to pull mine out today. It is small blade but it does have the cool factor.

The Crowne and Crane was slick and very wet, it was getting everywhere. The edge was very smooth and just a hair short of the sharpness I like. Four passes and no blood but the alum gave me some feedback. This happens sometimes when using a small light razor I tend to use too much pressure. Still a good shave.

Irritation A- Closeness A Smoothness A+ Sharpness A-

I pulled out all the stops. Arko...The Veg...my favorite 1912..PAL blade and the JR #137 Ace synthetic. Still feeling good. If any of you have not tried the Turkish gift to peace and happiness all over the World I say get at it!!

Second night for the Laser Super Platinum. Will it live up to its marketing and give me the Ultimate Shave?? Well, it didn't do bad. I wouldn't say ultimate shave, though. However, it was better than last night on 3. Still a nice smooth ride and the finish was a DFS but nothing outstanding in that regard. I can't say it's a bad blade, but just another of the "meh" blades that I run onto from time to time. Solid shaves, could probably get the baby to show up with a full third pass and touch ups but that seems like too much work for most days. At this point I wouldn't throw it out my den but there are better options, including some Super-Max, that have just a bit extra "oomph" to them. We'll see what it does on full aggression tomorrow before assigning it a place.

The Soap Commander was a welcome addition tonight. Great scent and slickness.

One more day to July.......have you made yours yet?

 

I'm using the one I made last year. I always try to get at least three shaves out of a blade.

And, without further ado for all you early starters.........it's JULY 2017!!!!!

 

One last run with the Usual suspects this time joined by the PAA Bakelite OC Slant.
I was feeling courageous after having an amazing shave with the Qshave set at 6 so I figured this slant razor couldn't be too bad. I'm sorry to say I'm ending my 2 months of focus on less than stellar results. I felt the full burn of the alum and was reminded that it really does more than just tighten my skin. I'll have to come back to this razor for a few more shaves I'm not sure what caused me to over shave it's either that blade exposure, the slant, or the super lightweight feel of this razor. No cuts and probably no razor burn that will last past the morning but it was still a bit rougher than I've come to expect after these last two months. On a positive note this is an incredibly smooth shave and I'll definitely learn to use this razor because it's quite efficient.

I have never tried a slant. You will work it out though. Chargeeeeee!!!!
