    Tonight's Shave

    Razor: Razorock Mission
    Blade: Derby Extra (2nd shave)
    Cream: Derby Lavender
    Brush: Omega S-Brush
    Post Shave: Cocoa Butter Lotion

Nice shave tonight. It wasn't as comfortable as my shave 2 days ago. In that shave I used the same setup but instead of Derby cream, I used VDH Luxury soap. The VDH soap provides a much thicker lather and is much better paired with a Derby Extra blade !!!

Second shave on the Permasharp is the sweet spot and the shimmed Rockwell-6 thus equipped is just stupid good. I'm liking the Coate's Tea Oil more and more, sufficient protection and slickness that with this combination I could have pretty easily stopped after one mixed pass on my head for a DFS. That's nuts.

FWIW I see Refined Shave's sharpness testing found the Permasharp to be the sharpest blade tested on second use (sharp as Feather on first). He had issues with its smoothness but they work for me fine. [IMG]

Evening Gents, second shave in today with the Sabre. The shave was even better than yesterday's shave. The GEM s/s blade is just so smooth. A 3 pass shave that was nic, weeper and irritation free. Intuitive is an understatement with this razor. Another near BBS shave with just a couple of stragglers around the throat. But those are tough for any razor for me. Just a pure delight shaving with the Sabre. And I'm really starting to like this GEM blade. Super smooth and comfy. Have a great evening Gents and have a great weekend......:happy093:

    Razor: Blacklands Sabre
Blade: GEM S/S PTFE Coated #2
    Brush: Maggard 26mm Synthetic
Soap: Asylum Shave Works Frankincense & Myrrh
    Astringent: DG Body Sensitive
Toner: Manetti & Roberts Rose Water
    A/S Splash: Barbasol Brisk

    Trials and Tribulations

    June 30

    Razor - 1959 (E4) Gillette Fatboy (9)
    Blade - [IMG] (3)
    Soap - Stirling Sandalwood
    Brush - 30 DC LE
    Post - Alum

Let's wrap up June, shall we? A fine month of trials with just a bit of tribulation thrown in. And some new soaps and a fantastic new brush that got used again tonight. I chose the Stirling Sandalwood to finish the month and the LE brush did a fine job of loading and face lathering. Two passes and touch up on the wide open Fattie and while I didn't get the baby I got a very very nice DFS. I'd rate this blade along with the Topaz. Alum was a bit warm but not bad at all. Definitely a serviceable blade that I wouldn't refuse to use. Coming up in the next few days I'm going to do some cost comparisons between the Indian blades I've trialed this month and try to put them in some order of ranking to sum it up. I have more Indian blades to go and I'll continue with a few of them in July, but my focus is changing for the next month. Trial runs will be the break in the routine in July.

Thanks to everyone for another great month here in 30 Day Land. Not quite as busy as a few months previous but a lot of vacations, travel and family activities so it's all good. See you over on the July thread!!

Terrific Tobacco today. WSP is underrated. The lather comes easily and matches up well with more prominent artisans. I used a Rapira super stainless blade with the 6s and they work very well together. I guessed that the Rockwell blades were Rapira, but I don't think so now, since the latter is much smoother. The balm feels great and adds a bit of menthol, too. I like the CL preshave butter so much that I've used this jar up pretty much and ordered another.
    Prep: Chatillon Lux butter
    Soap: WSP Tobacco Formula T
    Brush: Brothers Bristles Bronze Shadow
    Razor: Rockwell 6s R6
    Blade: Rapira Super Stainless
    AS: WSP Tobacco Balm[IMG]
