I find the Dirty Deeds Arroyo Cactus to be a very nice soap but not a fabulous one. The scent is medium strong and is a sort of a crisp and slightly pungent floral one with a citrusy undertone - basically what cactus smells like. Years ago I used a cactus shampoo that smelled much the same.

The puck is quite a hard soap that seems like it will last a decent length of time. However it loads quickly onto a dampened brush without needing blooming or anything and then whips up a good lather. Shave protection is fine and the feeling afterwards is clean and refreshed without drying.

I will continue using the sample puck until it is used up, which will probably take most of the month as I alternate it with other samples. I doubt I will seek out the Dirty Deeds website to buy more, however. I already have years worth of soaps and creams so a soap would now have to be extraordinary to get added to my den.

 

I discovered something last week that is helping my straight shaves. I've noticed that @Keithmax always does four passes. I've always stopped at two or three and decided to try four the other day with great results. The progression I used was WTG, XTG, ATG, XTG, with the last pass being very light. I've been BBS with every shave I've tried this with. I'm going to focus on four pass shaves this month, with the goal to be a able to do it without any strong after shave burn. This should be fun.

If you wanna start some stuff, offer to give him a full SR head shave, like in South Asia when boys are a month old. You can skip dropping him off the roof, that might be a bit much.

That's another thing, I've been trying to remember to skin stretch while I shave.

 

Whilst I like the scent of the Veg, I far prefer the scent and feel of my lovely bride. It isn't kryptonite to her (only one scent I own is), but it would take a while to warm her up to calling it something she enjoys. If she continues to get the occasional brief whiff, perhaps she will come into the light.

Mine's a 46/47 Aristocrat, Surrey boar, and Arko in a beef jerky can. (Think snuff can, but plastic)

 

It's the real key after you master angle.

 

I've tried it, but I think my skin just hasn't reached the point where the stretching makes a large enough difference to notice. Bullfrogging seems to help, however.

 

It'll be enough fun just watching my daughter's reaction when she sees the straight razor I have set aside for him when he starts shaving. I'll save the gun conversation for later
