I saw it posted in another forum too.
    Yep shame about the pictures.
I PM the original poster to see if he had any of the pictures.
I've been stropping my blades with good results.
In fact the blade I am using tonight will be it's fourth shave on it.
And there is at least one person on YouTube doing it.
So that gives me some encouragement.
Hopeful I will be able to.
If not then the worse is I have a pretty neat old razor.
I am thinking about a Gem or Ever Ready Lather Catcher some where down the Road.

OK, since I got Vince all excited I'll stick with my SE razors. The G8 is a keeper. A week of decent DFS shaves. Now for something a little more aggressive, up next is the E3. Nice tabs, but the spring doesn't move. Still Loving TOBS soaps and my big WD brush.

Normally that would be the case but besides a dog tag, that's all I got of my dad... well that's not true...there's memories, me and my sister.
The razor is in poor condition with the handle crumbling anyway.
When I asked what was wrong with it, someone told me I shouldn't be using it anyway.
Well I had to shave with it one time and I did.
I really don't want to mess with it until I get the razor from Tom.
    I might not then either.

I forgot about the handle going. Yeah, you don't need to put it in jeopardy - Tom's will set you right. :happy088:

You are going to have to PM me and tell about shaving with one.
    I find it intriguing.
I can't even believe that I'm considering one.
Heck three months ago I only knew about Gillette DE's .
Hey I was born in New Orleans.
Haven't been back since I was a kid though.

The SE is far better then DE. I am originally from MS. We need to get @Bird Lives to tell you about his 1909 ER.

Wow, thats a looker though....You know...my G8 was about the same on the aggression scale as my E2... Maybe the E2 was a little smoother...But very similar....I do love those classy butterscotch handles though...Your E3 is gorgeous...

Me too! :D...in fact, I did kind of distroy the I2 I got from my Pop, although he was still with us when I did...But I did replace it with one exactly like it that I got from StingraysRock/Jeff...

Course now I know how I could have fixed it...the pin that the hydro-magic lever hinges on fell out...I ended up tossing it....:shocked003:.....Man....if I knew then what I know now....well....I'd still would have been a pretty blissfull cat ( ignorance is bliss)...

But with the combined efforts and support of all the collective SE minds here.....shoot....even just with Tom ( @twhite )...even with one arm tied behind his back...I'd still feel safe, experimenting with an irreplacable razor...But then...I would never suggest anyone follow my example....lol...Hell....I still believe Playing Jazz is a credible Career choice...

Yeah man....Grab you a GEM Jr Bar and never look back....:love055:

Fuzzy said I should tell you about my ER 1909....The thing is...yeah, my 1909 in many ways was/is my holy grail razor...But I can think of a few SE razors that make "incredible" a much too mild adjective; when trying to discribe thier shaving prowess...

ER 1914 Little Lather Cather...these are soo easy to find and not very expensive...But they are ridiculous shavers...
ER 1924 Some call the Shovelhead...these are perfect too. There are several versions, and they all all simply fabulous. My 1909 is the first incarnation of this design, and it's amazing also, but this perticular version is pretty hard to find. But any ER1924 is fantastic!
GEM Open Comb Micromatic....look no further! Not rare...easy to find...inexpensive...best twist to open razor ever in my book...and I don't think any razor is actually better..

And the list goes on....GEM Damaskeene....many a young lad has lost his heart and whiskers to the 1912s....The plastic handle G3 WWII military issued 1912 that Fuzzy suggested...Fuzzy gave me one...It shaves as good as any of the best razors that I ever had the pleasure...

Yep....if you are considering SE's....JUMP! You mentioned Lather Catchers...well I've never had a full blown lather catcher...I've had the 1914 little lather catcher...and my ER 1909 isn't a Lather Catcher, it's the first shovelhead design. But I've heard, on good authority that the GEM Jr Bar type made under several co. names all under the ASR banner are the best shavers PERIOD! Hmm...I believe this is a possibility...

Ohh and we haven't talked about the Schick Repeaters....My Schick Simplified Automatic Repeater C3 has given me consistant shaves, of the highest quality...not to be beaten my any razor I have ever held...

I'll tell you this...IMHO....All of the above razors consistantly give me better shaves than ANY...THATS RIGHT....ANY...DE razor that I am familier with....YMMV....lol!

Yeah man...I think you might have a trip down a rabbit hole in your immediate future.....Happy Times, enjoy the ride!

The one you laid on me is amazing....It's maybe the best 1912 that I've had...or at least as good as the best Dammys that I've had....maybe an edge better...

That Feather Weight with the white handle....I think those are one of my favorite shavers....So many say they are too mild...But I'm addicted to pretty aggressive shavers, and I have no proplem getting BBS shaves from my feather weight everytime...and hey...that was Mickey Mantle's fave...

Took a chance on a $25 BIN on Ebay. This Kampfe Bro/Star new model..a 4 piece german DE that I could see was missing one piece of the handle and some electric trimmer heads. I was not sure the Kampfe was usable. Appears to be. It holds a modern blade very nice. It has that it won awards in 1900 and 1901 stamped on the head. Does that make it a 1900???

What does the base plate that the blade is resting on look like? Does it say STAR and have Y teeth? I know I've seen references on the internet that help with dating these. As I recall, there are some variations of the "K" on the back of the razor and maybe the arrangement of the words that help pin it down. Unfortunately, I don't have those links but I am sure someone with a Waits can help you out. Hopefully they are reading this and will post something. :happy088:

    Great catch Fuzzy.
That little bad boy is designed for wedge blades. As you have discovered it takes SE blades just fine.

Let us know how it shaves.
