I am in agreement with everything you said. With all the technology we have and nothing beats these 100 year old razors....????? Well except maybe the OneBlade Genesis. I can't say for sure about that one but from what everyone who has tried one has said.... Still that takes an investment of over $400 to beat my $8 Gem. Throws out the idea of "I'm going to save money and the planet all at one time". ROFLMAO I'll still keep trying out the vintage stuff but right now it's my go to razor when I just want an easy, pleasing shave. It just gets the job done. Ron
Congrats I saw that one too....probably along with everyone else on the forum.... but having just emptied my wallet and being on a fixed income I decided I will wait it out, use what I have and learn more about them before adding one to my collection. Looking forward to trying out the G bar after the smoke clears a little. Besides I have to find a pen cushion like Karl G has on his. In fact I think it's such a great idea I'm thinking of trying it out on some of my other handles.
Thank you. I did my first E3 shave today. Very efficient as long as I kept the angle right. I was planning on 3 passes, but didn't need that last one. I did feel it could bite me if I wasn't careful (and it did, once), but I liked the shave. Absolutely no feedback from my Barbasol AS. Much better than my G8. I found the G8 likable, but very mild. You're welcome. I've been transcribing more than a dozen Kampfe patents over the last couple of days, so I'm up to speed with Kampfe razors now. My favourite Kampfe patent right now is their 1886 folding razor: Patent US354196 Someone should make one....
Thanks to everyone that passed it up. Never heard a G8 called mild. The G1 maybe. The G8 I have is very close to my E2. I will do that in the morning when I get home from work!
In which case it's a so-called HR-14B model and not a HR-14A as I guessed on TOST... according to Mr Waits...
