It was just 10 hours since my last shave, which was epic so just a 3 pass shave today and no ATG. Today's razor was my DOC Evolution accompanied by my LE 30 DOC brush. Rode the cap to a nice shave.

July 2 - an old Razorock Classic

    Merkur 34C
    Astra SP (day 2)
    AOS 23 mm Pure Badger
    DIY PSO
    Razorock Classic Old Formula
    Alum/Thayers/AOS PSB

The pass around box had two different tubs of Razorock Classic. Based on the ingredients, today's soap was the classic. The scent had changed, possibly being in a Ziplock with other samples. My daughter said it was almond Cola. It was slick but had no cushion.. I can see why they changed. I am sure it was really because they changed soap suppliers too:). 3 passes to a BBS. The new tub in the box has the newer ingredients but it was a white tub. The tub I have is black and smells like almonds more so than what is in the sample. Will see how all three compare.

    That's because of the cyanide.

I just managed to dump an entire 40 oz of diet soda in one of my bathrooms, so my 'focus' for a day or so will be tearing the bathroom down and cleaning everything up again. It was on the list, but I didn't intend to do it yet. None of my shaving supplies were harmed.

Looks like mine with a fancy handle. 1902 HR-14B according to Waits. Maybe @riverrun can verify it with me. He found what mine was. Love the razor rack. Except for haveing two sided razors it looks a lot like mine.

99.9% positive the handle is a late addition and not original to the razor, but I dig it.

I love the two band in the 40DC handle! It looks great. I hope yours performs like mine. Absolutely love mine!

During May that is perfectly acceptable. In July that's just crazy talk. Not necessarily discouraged; just crazy talk.

So I tested some edges today. I offered to touch up the blades for @Linuxguile and finally had time to work on it. I did my ford part of my WTG pass with the Henkels Rapide in the stropping handle. It's sharp, and kind of bite-y. Got a couple of slices with the spikes, and put it down for the Rolls. This blade is from 1941, and was a huge pain to get the bevel set. It's not quite as sharp as the Henkels, bit is smoother. Looks like I have one more use of the Barroster's Reserve Spice sample for Cinco de Julio. Finished up with Mandom. Because I could.

July 2017 - Time to straighten up!

    July 2

Razor - Kai Captain J Type (pain stick)
    Blade - [IMG] (2)
    Soap - Fatbac
    Brush - 30 DC LE
    Post - Alum

Continuing with the Kai/Kai combo and I feel like a master tonight. That's probably a bad thing. I'll have to be extra careful tomorrow. The only trick to the shave tonight was the soap. Fatbac is a great product (MWF and Tabac mixed) but requires a bit of finesse to produce a slick enough lather to make the pain stick work its best. My first attempt was a bit too dry so I added water to the brush and did another face lather over the first one before trying to shave. That made it work. However, before the second pass I added even more water and really got the slickness quotient up. That made the pass as smooth as silk. I just have to remember that Fatbac is thirsty because MWF is thirsty. Not as thirsty as the pure product, but add water for success! DFS finish, no blood, and not even a hint of a problem.

Trying out that "Keep the puck moist" paradigm?
Last month I used the same soap for three or four consecutive shaves. Totally unheard of in my experience. What I found is that starting with a boar brush and a dry puck and following up on a moistened puck using boar, synth, or badger the soap loads easier & makes better lather quicker. Who would of thunk it?
I think it was @Douglas Carey or @clint64 that has been doing this soap of the week and never told us!
