Finding a G2 in good condition seems to be even harder than finding a nice D or F type - or the G3 for that matter. Like hen's teeth. :shocked003:

Glad to see it go to a good home where it'll get used. :happy036:It had been about 14 months since I'd last shaved with it.

SOTD rescue. Just behind my SOTD is a young girl standing in the water bottom right of the main bridge support. I noticed her climbing down the support as I was setting up my photo. I took the flick and put my gear away. I then noticed she had lowered herself in the water and picked up something from the water. She was trying to pull herself up on to the platform, but was unable to. The water is running pretty good still and it is cool. I know that the longer she stayed in the water the the more difficult it would be for her to get out. Not wasting anytime I called Fire & Rescue to come to her aid. I know the men who showed up in a short period of time and pointed out her location. They got her out quickly and in good shape. Turns out she had dropped her phone in the from the top of the bridge.
All's well that ends well. :happy088:

Silly question, but is there such a thing as a G7? All the lists I've seen go from G6 to G8.

No G7. Bear in mind the numbering scheme is not Schick's. It comes from a guy named Appleby who is credited with establishing the chronology of Schicks. My hunch has been he choose to have a gap to set the G8 apart from the other variations given the different style handle that was introduced.

Actually, that's what I'm hoping for. For some reason, I find the E2 to be mild but not so much the G1.

The G series also behave very differently with different blade combinations. With a Schick loaded I don't think I ever got a good shave with a G type. But with a Personna or a cut down Feather it was a different story altogether. But, that's just me. YMMV, of course, but it's worth trying some different current and NOS blade combinations. :)

I'm going to jump start tomorrow's shave. I will be using my very special GEM Jr. Lather Catcher I got from @wchnu . It will also be my first experience with De Vergulde Hand Scheezeep (that is Dutch for The Guilded Hand Shaving Soap). I am also going to be using my #2 that I re-knotted with a two-band badger.

    Blade: Chinese Schick
    Razor: Schick G1 injector
    Brush: Surrey badger
    Lather: Country Club Cahaba Blues
Post: Witch hazel, Jeeves of Hudson Street Tobacco Bay Leaf aftershave

Great shave with the G1 this afternoon. This is my "home base" razor. Some good banter about the G series on here recently. I guess everything is subject to YMMV as the G1 is my all-time favorite razor. I use it with Chick blades with no problems at all. The Personna blades were not good me! Very uncomfortable with poor results. Haven't tried the cut-down Feather yet but the Chicks work so well that I don't feel a need to.

I have a G8 that I've relegated as my travel razor. I use it at home, too, but it's condition is one that taking it for travel is okay. It shaves very similarly to the G1. Can't tell much of a difference.

Exceptional lather from Cahaba Blues soap and an all-around terrific shave. I wish the same for all of you - have a good evening!

Interesting. My E2 is an early model. Will open to clean. It is almost as aggressive as a Gillette old to me. Wonderful razor!
