from stirling. I'm thinking about getting either the kong or pro handle. My question is they both have the same 26 mm diameter knot but have different loft heights. The kong has a 63 mm loft and the pro handle has a 54mm loft. What will the difference in the brushes be? Does anyone have any experience with both the brushes and can tell me what differences they have?

Backbone. I like the Kong better myself, it's just the handle I'm not crazy about.

A shorter loft will make for a stiffer brush.

Unless you have something like this.......
Left to right: Maggard 26mm, RR Beehive 28mm, RR F-400 XXL 34mm

I like that black and red but I think it would be a little overkill for me. If it was the normal size like the butterscotch one they have I'd prob get it

You're probably right, it's not for everyone. But for me, it's perfect. What a lather making machine! And face feel is excellent!!! Headshavers, this is The Ayatollah of Rock-and -Rolla!! Just awesome. Nothing more to say....:love055:

Just the Kong, but I've got the same 26mm knot I'm putting in a custom handle. I've been playing with the loft, so I have a pretty good reference point.

I set my 24mm synthetics at about 52mm. I have done a couple of 30mm, and I do those around 60mm. See #156 (61 loft) and #170 (62 loft) below. The bigger the plug the higher the loft.

I adopted the 170 and it is near perfect for me. It has plenty backbone and extremely soft @ 62mm. I can get three face passes plus sometimes two on my head before returning to the scuttle to pick up more lather!!!

So you're saying that if you were to lower the loft on any one of those brushes (and fine brushes they are!), they would feel no different from their current loft height?
Sorry, but I find that very hard to believe.

No. That was not my point. It's just an alternative to the OP's question concerning the synthetics. With the size of these massive brushes, loft is a moot point. I was not inferring a modification to these said brushes. Tongue and cheek if you may....:happy088:

    That is good to know.

I disagree. Loft becomes even more important when you start getting into the larger knot sizes.

Yeah, it is all about proportion.

It was just a bit of humor considering the size of the brushes. I was not ruling out brush loft nor was I intending to start a debate concerning loft sizes. I agree, loft is important but I have no inclination in discussing the merits of brush loft, density of the knot, quality of the fiber whether it be synthetic or natural. I do not have the expertise to speak intelligently about the matter. You Gents are far more experienced than I concerning this topic. As I said, it was all in jest......:)

One that flew over the Cuckoo's nest.... Bad joke, that's all. I digress.
