So far this month.....
I have only been home a day or two a week for the last couple months, so most of my shaves have been with the Feather DX, whatever synthetic I picked for the trip. I kept "photo-ing" all of them for a while intending to post, but the repetition wasn't even all that interesting to me, and they were my shaves. Too tired and not enough time to try to find interesting ways to do it, I sort of gave up, and can sum them up in these few pics:
The blade of choice has been the Feather, but I have been bringing a safety razor along too, just for the variety. So one could call it:
- Feather DX/Alumigoose/Shick E
-Simpson Duke 3 Synth/Maggard Black Fiber Synth/Manhandled Woods Ubersoft
-Asst. Stirling or DR Harris shave sticks/Arko
-Stirling A.S./Florida Water/Krampert's Frostbite
I have sort of re-discovered my liking of Arlo this year. It is fast, slick and cheap. The awesome scent is just a bonus. I have probably been using it for half my shaves the last couple of months.
I haven't been shaving on Monday's because I've been too darn tired, and Friday's have been hit or miss depending on when I get home. Saturday's have been pure leisure day's with everything being "Dealer's Choice". The straights have been a relaxing change of pace, and it's always nice to know the stray hairs laying about the bathroom are yours. Yesterday's was this:
-Portland Razor Co. Hydra
-Stirling 26mm Finest
-Stirling Electric Sheep Soap and Splash
The Portland Razor is quite likely my favorite straight. The shortened up blade makes it super nimble for final cleanup, and the heavier ground 6/8" blade has never failed to plow through even the heaviest growth I give it. This is just a fantastic razor all the way around.
The new Electric Sheep splash is a solid winner in my book. To my nose, the lemon is more forward and the citronella is less pronounced than in the soap. Being citrus, it is also not an exceptionally long lasting scent, so my vote is that yes, it is safe for public consumption.
Gotta go mow some grass, and my daughter wants to go fishing this afternoon. I have a couple of weeks of local work coming up, so I don't have to pack or travel tonight. Will try to catch up on the rest of the thread later.
Good to see you guys.
