Wednesday July 19 - old friends week contd.

    Gillette Slim on 3 / Topaz Platinum ( 2 )
Chinese hardwood boar reknotted with Maggards 24mm plissoft knot
My Red Green Duct Tape Special frankensoap
Alum and Thayers Witch Hazel Rose Petal

I used one of my synthetic brushes that has been sitting on the sidelines for the last few months. It did a stellar job of whipping up a lather out of my soft Italian almond soap. A good shave followed from the vintage Gillette adjustable with nary a peep from the alum. I finished off with a splash of my new scented Thayers, courtesy of a generous PIF from Randy @BaylorGator.

And now I am off for a three hour drive to a funeral...

Hope everyone else has a better day planned...

19 July 2017 Wool Fat Wednesday OLD Blade Focus Shave

Pre: A waterfall of hot water, some soap off the puck followed by a hot towel
    Razor: 1911 Gillette OLD type
    Blade: Shark Super Chrome
Brush: JJ#1 CVL-24 tribute boar brush
Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat Shaving Soap
Post: Hot/Cold water rinse, alum block, cold towelx2, Dominello Vitali Calming Post Shave Moisturizer
    After Shave: The Clubman

This morning I went with MWF. This is my third time with it and it continues to impress. Using JJ#1 and the dry brush technique, I lathered up a slick, cushiony bowl of Wool Fat wonderfulness. Slathered it on my mug and had at it with the OLD/Shark combo. Rode the cap to a 2.5 pass near BBS shave. A little J hooking on my lower neck sealed the deal.
Splashed on the Clubman and redolent of same headed out the door for another fun-filled day in the high pressure :happy097: world of corporate security.
Have a great shave, have a great day!(h/t to GeoFatBoy)

    Gem Damaskene
    Gem Stainless
    30DCLE
    Catie's Bubbles '95 Liquid Labels
Witch Hazel enhanced with Tommy EdT

Two firsts last night. First time using a Gem Damaskene and first time using Catie's Bubbles. First off for the Damaskene, I found it rather difficult maintaining the correct angle with the curved head. I kept wanting to pull the cap off the skin a little and this proved to be too much angle and created some irritation in a few places. I may have to try shimming the blade. Catie's Bubbles was fantastic though. I was able to create a super smooth, creamy, shiny lather in no time. The big 26mm knot in my 30DCLE brush really holds a lot of lather and a 20 second load gave me enough lather for at least 10 passes. I finished with a splash of witch hazel that I enhanced with a spray of Tommy EdT. Have a great day my friends!
