I hadn't been thinking of doing it myself, but now that you mention it I could use a project. I have a 3 week old Dovo Best Quality that the plastic scales snapped on tonight mid shave. Never dropped, maybe I have a death grip on it I don't know about. But the thing busted at the pivot pins. I'm not to keen on these plastic scales. I won't be making that mistake again.

The above link will take you to scales for Dovo straights. The hardware is available. There are also a couple videos. Re- pinning scales is simple. It has to be cuz I can do it;)

Light restoration and fresh off the hones. This old fella has given many shaves since the 1800's. The blade is on the small side, right between a 5/8 and a 4/8. A little smaller and lighter than I generally prefer, but it shaves off a day and a half worth of stubble like nobody's business:).

I find the smaller blades very maneuverable and easy to use for a quick shave. I prefer my blades wider (3/4" is the sweet spot), but I'm adaptable.

I had a Japanese 4/8 that I just couldn't get a good shave with. I got a really nice three pass shave fro this one. Maybe it was my lack of experience with the Japanese. I'll never know, as I cut it loose.

Thank you. It's a beauty that shaves very well. I'm loving the smiling blade.

Vintage Solingen 'Leader 'razor from Frederick Wilhelm Engels— 13/16" (box says '6/8' but the blade is slightly wider), round-point, full-hollow. One of the few 'round-points' in my rotation. Sweet shaver!

Wade Wingfield & Rowbotham Circa 1850 or earlier. Recieved today from England. What a close SMOOTH shave. The razor dates 160 to 180 years old. Scales are real Ivory.[IMG]

Yeah. I'm done for a while. I did make one last Purchase yesterday for a Dovo Inox Encina Stainless Steel in 6/8. I looked everywhere and they averaged $215 or more. I found it on Royal Shave for $150.00 I'd been wanting at least one SS Razor to add to the collection and at this price I couldnt say no. Screen Shot 2017-07-25 at 1.45.18 PM.png

Couple of dandies you got there, Rich. I bought a really nice horsehide strop from Royal shave awhile back at a great price.
