    July 25 - Break Time

Razor - Delta Echo Gillette New LC
    Blade - [IMG] (2)
    Soap - Proraso Green
    Brush - Semogue 620
    Post - Alum

Tuesday night, my weekend is done. Spent some time today out in a creek sitting in the spring cold water and just enjoying life. Tonight was head shave night so the Merkur 23c came out along with the Proraso. No issues there, so I decided to keep the soap and switch to the Semogue 620 for the face shave. Already had the New LC loaded with the Ladas from last night.

Other than having a bit of trouble getting enough lather to finish a two pass shave everything was fine. Not sure why the Semogue was a bit shy on lather tonight. It seemed like it was loaded fine. The last time I used it I noticed the same thing. My technique? Just the brush? We'll find out sooner or later. Finish was a near-BBS and I'm good to go for the new week. I'll have two newbies with me tomorrow to train on clearance for the day. See if I can inspire them to be like me. Scary thought, I know.

I think I'll finish the triple play tomorrow night with Proraso. Red, Green, White. Only seems fitting.

Another great 2 pass quick, close and drama free shave this morning. It would be hard to ask for more. Finished up with a splash of Floid Blue. I hope everyone has a great Wednesday.

    Ever-Ready Brush w/Cashmere knot
    Barbon SC
    Gillette Red Tip
    Feather (4)
    Stirling Unscented PSB
    Barbon AS

Shave 4 on this blade, and again the stand out was a brush. This was my first use of a Cashmere knot, and my initial impression is very positive. It is softer with better splayed than my typical favorites: the Kong and Plissoft. It has plenty of backbone as well. I look forward to trying it with a puck to see how it loads for the whole experience. Tomorrow, I will be breaking out the Rubberset 400 with the Tuxedo knot. I hope everyone has a great day!

Thank you, Clint! I am definitely impressed. I don't have quite the experience with different knots like a lot of folks on here, but I do see a lot of promise on this one. It will be interesting to see how the Tuxedo compares tomorrow.

26 July 2017 Wool Fat Wednesday OLD Blade Focus Shave

Pre: Hot water, soap off the puck and a hot towel
    Razor: 1911 Gillette OLD Type
    Blade: PolSilver Super Iridium
    Brush: Omega 10098
    Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat
Post: Hot/Cold water rinse, alum block, cold towelx2, Dominello Vitali Calming Post Shave Moisturizer
    After Shave: Canoe by Dana

Middle of the work and shave week. Broke out the MWF for this morning's shave. The big Omega Boar whipped up a truck load of slick, cushiony lather. The OLD/PSI duo provided a near 2.5 pass BBS shave. I've noted that the PSI, at least in my case is sensitive to what soap is used. Yesterday with the Catie's Bubbles "Barnegat Bay" there was a little dragging. Today the razor just glided over my face. Something else to consider as I go further down the road with this blade.
Splashed on some Canoe and looking good and smelling better, headed into work.
Have a fantastic Wednesday my fellow Denizens!

    July 26, 2017- Schick Proline

    Razor: Eversharp-Schick J1 Injector
    Blade: Schick Proline B (1)
Brush: 30DC LE w/Virginia Sheng Pure Badger
    Cream: KMF fragrance-free
    Post: Alum, Listerine, WH

As much as I loved yesterday's shave with the G8 and a Chick, I put that combo aside to try my other new acquisition, the Schick Proline B blade. There has been a lot of chatter about the Proline blades lately, mostly in regards to the AC-compatible blade (Proline S), but I'd also heard very good of the Proline B blades which are Injector size. I was able to pick up a pack of 20 from a Rakuten seller who offered small package shipping as an option. The cost me just under $10US shipped and were delivered relatively quickly. More info on these blades can be found at the Schick Japan website. (BTW, Neal, these blades are sputtered.)

Since the Proline blades come in a magazine without a key, I needed to crossload them into an empty Injector magazine. It turns out that an early 1960s Schick magazine may not be the best choice as it has a thinner slot than a modern magazine. Nevertheless, I was able to load 6 into the 8-blade magazine and fed one into the J1.

So, we have a mid-50s razor using a 21st Century professional blade loaded from a 1962 vintage magazine. What's the worst that could happen?

In a word- magic. My first impression is that the Proline B is sharp but very smooth, possibly deceptively so. For me, it was an excellent shave that may have passed the baby and gone into dolphin territory. I need to be a bit careful with these blades (or, at least, with my lather) as I did get some tingle from the Alum and one weeper.

Ultimately, I want to work these blades through my whole collection though, at the moment, I have a bit of trepidation as to how they will do with the E2. That combo could either be great but very scary.
