It's amazing what little minds can do for us, isn't it? Thanks for sharing.

Friday night July 28 - mowing the stubble field

    Brickell Renewing Face Scrub
    Rockwell 6s on plate #3 / Topaz Platinum ( 2 )
    Jason's non - 30DC Cypress Badger brush
My Red Green Duct Tape Special frankensoap
Alum and Thayers Witch Hazel Rose Petal

I finally got off shift tonight after five straight days on call. My last shave was Sunday night, so I had a five-day beard to mow through. I decided to clean up before going to bed.

I started with the Brickell face scrub to clean and degrease the stubble before shaving. This product has pumice, avocado and jojoba beads in it and feels gritty and deep cleansing as you use it. Thanks to @BaylorGator for the generous PIF that included this sample tub -- it's good stuff and hit the spot tonight.

I used the badger brush to face lather my Italian almond soap tonight instead of bowl lathering as I usually do. I thought the extra scrubbing time on the stubble while building the lather would be helpful in working the soap down thoroughly. The frankensoap face lathered beautifully and the badger brush felt great rubbing the lather over my face. I continue to be very impressed by this Maggards 24mm two - band badger knot.

I also continue to be impressed by the speed and efficiency of DE shaving. When I removed a stubble like this in the past with my electric razor, I would have to scrub the razor in circles for ten to fifteen minutes to get close to cleanshaven and invariably had razorburn. Today, one brisk pass had me clean enough for an office shave and a second had me to BBS with zero irritation reported by the alum. The WH tonic was more for hot weather moisturizing than any need from the shave. (And thanks once again to @BaylorGator for the Rose Petal version of the Thayers.)

My face now feels clean, non-itchy and refreshed, and I am headed to bed...

    Saturday shave:

Even though I had just 15 hours since my last shave I broke out a big razor today, a Hart Steel 7/8 with a quarter grind. It is several shaves into a Zulu Grey edge. The edge was very smooth and sharp. Four passes and just tickle from the alum and smooth face.

    Irritation A Closeness A Smoothness A+ Sharpness A

    Razor: Hart 7/8 grind 1/4
    Strop: Drygulch black latigo

    Brush: Rooney best
    Pre: Proraso
    Soap: CF & AoS tallow
    AS: Alcolado Glacial
    Scent: SMN Creed Original Vetiver

This photo sums up my shaves for the past week. I've been completely slammed with work and have been shaving in the evenings. Still working on this sample of Soap Commander Courage. Has around 15 shaves on it now. I've also used some samples of aftershaves like the TSD Barber Shoppe in the photo. Good shaves but haven't had the time for consistent photos and posting, etc. I catch up on the thread when I can. This will slow down soon and I'll be back to a more normal routine.

    Have a great weekend!

Thanks, Clint! I've been much more conscious of using sunscreen this year after having that cancer spot removed. I've always used sunscreen diligently but I am reapplying more often now.

    Wolfman Ti OC (.74mm)
    Feather (3)
30 DC LE with Omega Boar
    Mystic Water Lavender Lime
    Folsom & Co Shambala

I enjoy lazy Saturday morning shaves. The 30DC boar easily lathered up the MW Lavender Lime. While I enjoy the scent this MW soap will not make my rebuy list. I prefer the MW Lavender or MW Lime scents much more than the combination. This Wolfman OC with the increased blade gap is very efficient. I find it to have a smaller optimum operating angle than the Timeless OC making it a touch harder to use. Since I had the time this morning I went with a traditional 3 pass shave paying attention to my trouble spots and skin stretching as I went. I had a near perfect shave before touchups. I applied a little more lather to my neck and went for it which in hindsight was not a good idea. I did end up with a BBS that would make a Drill Sgt smile but ended up with some redness. Good thing I have tough skin or this could have been bad. A splash of witch hazel with menthol followed by a splash of F&C Shambala calmed things down. I hope everyone has a fantastic Saturday.
