Hello Joseph, I do not use shims with any of my razors. I just don't need to. I don't know why. I'm not even sure exactly what shims do for people. Although I have heard of many people using them.
Curiousity question......Why do you think this razor set is unusual my friend? There are many Gillette ABC Pocket Editions on the market.

I started off with Proraso Pre Shave. The Jeeves of Hudson Street Shaving Soap face-lathered well with the Jayaruh #18 Badger brush. I did the two passes with the Gillette Aristocrat with a Gillette Super Stainless blade ("The Spoiler" R3, 1971) and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. The Spoiler did a fine job for a 46 year old blade. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayer's Peach WH and then Pinaud Vanilla AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Thanks. This was only the first shave so I should reserve any substantial comment. I will say that I enjoyed the balance, the tactile feel of the matte finish and I got a great shave!

Tonight's shave was with an American Razor, that gave the perfect shave. The 2 pass shave was so smooth, it was like the whiskers weren't there. The results were BBS, with zero issues. This is one of my favorites to shave with. Well made, and takes a super sharp and smooth edge.

Razor- Shapleigh HDW.
Brush- B400 By Tom
Soap- MWF(Mitchell's Wool Fat).
Aftershave- Pinaud Clubman

 

Last stop for the BIC on the holiday tour is the Jaws-Mastiff head . After yesterday's rough performance in the Mastiff I tossed the suspect blade, and the fresh BIC with the swapped Jaws baseplate was just stellar in the Frankenhead. Two pass plus BBS, no new weepers. Best shave yet with my new yellow wrappered friend.

As an aside it appears Charcoal sells both these heads (as their rebranded standard open/closed comb heads). One might be able to mix and match and just buy the Frankenhead from Brian.

Thanks for the kind works. Too bad it is too hard to see the lighted vial. It looks just white in the light & photos, but as the lights dim, it glows purple and I have a green one also.

JAMIE'S NIGHT SHAVE..

1. Hot Shower with PAA CaD soap/shampoo puck.
2. Truffet & Hill Pre Shave Oil.
3. PAA La Tierra Mojada shave soap.
4. Crown King Synthetic Brush.
5. PAL Injecto-Matic - Kmart "NOS" Blade - 2nd shave ( great blade!! I wont hesitate to snag more if I see them).
6. Humphries Citrus witch hazel.
7. PAA CREOSETE after shave Splash - New creation, very different! Nice refreshing "rain" scent - like nothing I have ever smelled.
8. Gillette Blue after shave balm.

 

Love you guys, but I'm gonna have to post tomorrows shave ahead. I've just got limited morning time. I, like to dali around with my second cup o'joe, and write my sotd. But that no count emily got me behind. So here goes what I'm gonna use.
Hot water wash with a washcloth
Semouge 620
Bombed Sara's Creations Loud Lavender
Barbasol Floating Head
Rockwell swedish stainless steel (4)
Omega Alum
Fine Lavender classic after shave
That's my plan, items are laid out ready, I expect a fine shave. I'll report if anything needs.
