What Straight Razor Did You Use Today?

    Wm. Greaves & Sons 9/16 Cast Steel
    She gave a very fine shave .Was Honed on Sharpton Glass up to 30 K.(Came that way from Purchase) .It has super keen edge but almost too synthetic if you know what I mean . I will try her again tomorrow .But I am thinking of taking her to the J-Nat or Belgian Couticle to bring back the buttery feel of the Sheffield Steel .

    In My Humble Experience Sheffield Hollow Grinds are Way Over Honed Past around 16 K..They Become Lethal..:shocked003:

    Billy Thanks for the advise .The Razor is 1/4 Grind .Close to being a wedge.Fairly sure I will hone her on the Belgian Couticle to soften the edge and take me out of the danger zone .

    Aye..Some of the 1/4 Grinds or Near Wedges Can Take a Higher Grit but Some Don't..Depends on the Production Era of the Steel..The Cast Steel Sheffield's Take a Wonderful Edge on My Coticule..:happy088:

    Odd-looking SR this morning. Felt entirely different than most of my morning shaves. :confused:
    Much faster and easier shave, too. No stropping necessary... Happy August!

    Jim, I think you're on to something. The blade is not only disposable but unlike most run-of-the-mill shavettes, the blade is smaller and is double-sided!
    It might be strange enough to capture the attention of that fringe group of shavers looking for that different shaving experience!
