I tried to push the carbon Blue Star through a second head shave. Not. Replaced the blade and the power and glory is mine again. GEM1912 with Rockwell handle. [IMG]

I really want to like this razor. Maybe it's because it's stainless I seem to have a bit of a love/hate relationship with it. Today it surprised me at the end. The first two passes were OK and I wasn't hoping for much satisfaction at the end. Lo and behold the finish was better than expected. A very close shave all the way around with minimal noise from the alum. :)

Evening shave with a new arrival from a pass around I'm participating in. The awesome looking Cobra. And what a shave it was! Used a Kai ProTouch Pink and it was smooth as silk. A beautiful razor in the hands with good balance and feel. A smooth 3 pass shave that left nothing but BBS. Quick buff on the chin and took a bow. Exquisite! A glass or two of Jamison, dinner and chat with the Lady. Have a great evening and shave Gents.....

    Razor: Cobra SE
    Blade: Kai ProTouch Pink #1
    Brush: RR Beehive 28mm
    Soap: Tabac
    Astringent: DG/Body
Toner: Manetti & Roberts Rose Water
    W/H: Humphreys Citrus
A/S Splash: Murray & Lanman Florida Water

best slant i have, the head insures proper angle. .... glides nicely and is moderate in aggression for me. Guaranteed BBS with 3 passes for me. Very efficient and mows down whiskers easily.

Quick and easy evening shave. As I mentioned earlier, my schedule is off right now and I'm shaving in the evenings. I'll be back with morning shaves later this week. Hopefully I can have a little more time to actually post a picture again. In any event this was a really nice shave. Soap Commander is great stuff. Enjoy your evening!

had to get a new phone the other day and was having trouble with the camera and posting photos, so I'm sorry there are no pics this time. Have had a decent couple shaves the last few days, some better than others but all were acceptable. The Turtleship Pine and Ballenclaugh HBR were the best shaves of the bunch and are 2 top tier soaps for sure. Will try to take a pic of todays shave here in a few and hopefully can figure things out. Hope everyone is doing well and getting great shaves!

    SHAVE OF THE DAY
    20170801_231451.jpg

    Prep: Occams Crushed Lone
    Razor: Gillette Ball End Tech
    Blade: Laser Platinum
    Brush: Omega synthetic
Soap: Cooper & French Black Tie
Post: Soap Commander Courage balm, Lucky Tiger

Got a smooth shave this afternoon. First time with Cooper & French soaps, lather was nice and thick and had good water tolerance, scent is somewhat familiar but not sure where I've encountered it before, could be considered a barbershop type of scent and paired well with Courage. The blade was dragging a bit but finished off with minimal irritation and the Courage balm soothed any damage while providing a invigorating sensation to the shaving experience. Hope everyone also got a great shave!

    Adjustable (Arko) August!!!

    August 1

Razor - Soviet Consul Adjustable (5)
    Blade - [IMG] (1)
    Soap - Dirty Deeds Tobacco
    Brush - BoS Omega 10066
    Post - Alum

My focus for August is simple. Back to Grand Blade Trials. Since I'm using the adjustables it's a good month to give some more blades a shot and find out what I can. I have narrowed down some that I will be using, but more on that later. For the first shave of the month I decided (since it still leaves 30 days in August) to go Soviet style tonight. I got out the Consul adjustable, set it on 5 (which is close to 9 on a Gillette) and popped in a most glorious Voskhod. Prior to my face shave I loaded a brand new Astra Superior Platinum into the Merkur 23c for the head shave with Proraso and the Semogue 620.

The Omega did a better than fine job with the Dirty Deeds soap. Great lather and it kept me from adding any blood to the shave. Two passes and touch up for a near-BBS with some fairly warm alum, but that just means it was a close shave with this razor. I still like the fact I found a Soviet razor that actually shaves without making me want to either throw it through a window or just cut my wrists and be done with it.

Overall a good start to the month and it will be off to the races in the Trial tomorrow. I will be doing some work back through the Dorco blades this month, including the Dollar General el-cheapo versions. I stopped and got those today for a whole dollar. I know, big spender.

Thought I'd put all the gear from both shaves tonight in the picture. And, as a bonus, I found the picture I took two years ago for August 1, 2015. I used the same brush and a Slim, apparently. The Omega was only a couple of weeks old back then. I had bought it during No-buy July and it cost me the title. Hence, the "Brush-o-Shame". Good times.
