I see the fellas at Booster changed the color of their Barber Shop classic from green to blue. Might try that one some time.

I use Photo Lab to edit my pictures, and this one automatically resizes everything properly when you save the picture. It is very easy. I also occasionally use Photogenie, which lets you really size fairly easily as well. I too use Safari on the iPhone.

Nice looking set up, Jason. I have the previous version of Port-au-Prince, not the Sheep version, unfortunately. Still a good soap, though.

Wonderful photo Doug. What do you think of the Ti Timeless handle?

Never thought of that. Yeah, you can crop in no time. Even on Tapa, 3/4 of the pics I put up are pre-cropped. I will see. THANKS!

Thanks Clint. The Timeless Ti handle is well balanced and a good size for me. It is shorter and lighter than there other handles not to mention very easy to hold with wet hands.

I hear you. And all of this almost makes me want to hide from the Coke bottle falling from the sky. (The Gods must be Crazy???)

I know there must be a reason, but why is it that Tapa can resize photos and nobody else can? It seems like it can't be that expensive of a concept, since you can do Tapa for free....

Text the picture to yourself. Your phone will send a small compressed file automatically. Save the incoming photo. Upload full resolution this way.

I understand that, but my question is "how can Tapa skip that step?" While I consider myself somewhere around average in terms of being lazy, I do hate doing stupid shit. I just wish someone could explain to us why that extra step is necessary, apparently everywhere, that isn't Tapatalk.

Tapatalk just runs an algorithm on the file. Anyone could build it into an app, if only they had the incentive to do so. Tapatalk is a paid service at its core, and tries to make the GUI as easy and straightforward as possible hoping to gain subscribers.

It worked on me. I am totally willing to pay a small monthly fee (like $2) for a good simple app. Wish TSD had one, or one version with a metric ton of annoying ads for free, and no ad paid premium version.

Yeesh! I left this thread on page 8 after my last shave, come back, and it's on page 22! I have some reading to do!

Friday night August 4 - mowing the hayfield

    Rockwell 6s on plate #3 / Topaz Platinum ( 2 )
    Alluminati Envy White badger brush
    Dirty Deeds Arroyo Cactus soap
Alum and Thayers Witch Hazel Original Astringent

I found the limits of the Dirty Deeds soap for me:. It's fine for doing daily shaves trimming sandpaper stubble back to cleanshaven but seems to lack the cushion and protection of some other soaps when mowing down a multi-day beard.

My last shave was Tuesday night, so tonight I removed a three-day stubble. In this weather, I opted for a cool-water shave. The Dirty Deeds soap lathered up well and I thought I had a good, slick layer of protection. In fact, on the second pass, doing XTG cleanup, the soap felt pleasantly slippery and cushiony. However, on the first pass, cutting down the multi-day stubble, the shave felt unpleasantly rough. The interesting thing is that the alum at the end was silent and there was no burn at all from the alcohol in the Thayers Astringent splash, so the protection was actually there throughout the shave. It just felt like I was dry shaving on that first pass.

This was quite a marked contrast to how I felt when shaving similar stubble last week using The Fat and then my Italian frankensoap (and in the past when using TOBS cream) -- like the razor was gliding on silk.

I will continue using the Dirty Deeds soap until the sample is exhausted but will restrict its use to "daily trimming" shaves and will use other soaps or creams for heavy growth removal.

Hope everyone is lining up a great weekend for themselves!

Today's shave was brought to you by:

    Gillette Slim (new Voskhod blade)
    Stirling Boar
    TOBS Sandalwood
    Stirling Sandalwood Balm

Excellent face shave with the Slim (on 9), Voskhod, TOBS setup. The Sandalwood is a very cologne-type presentation, but it just smells so good and lathers so easily. The brush only lost a couple of bristles and is starting to open up a bit. The alum was pretty quiet on the face, and the woodiness of the Stirling Sandalwood Balm was a nice compliment. The only issue was my head shave. I just could not find the right angle, so I dialed the razor back to five. I still could not get the right angle. So I switched to the Schick Krona and found it immediately. I'll have to give it a go again tomorrow.
