Thanks Jason. I love the brush, and my Bride thinks it's cool too!

I purchased a tube of the Palmolive Classic Shave Cream and a couple of shave sticks in a small drug store in England. I'd heard about how good these products were for a long time, and it was fun shopping for them. I paid $7 for all three items. It was a small store, and I left only one Palmolive product on the shelf for the rest of the town to share. The young clerk thought it was funny. :) I haven't tried the soap yet, but the shave cream is really good. I bet the menthol version is a winner also.

I don't know. I tried some of her brownies and found them less than filling. I had to hit the Taco Bell drive through at 3:00 AM for a dozen tacos and 5 bags of churros.

Thanks Brian. The last time around, I liked the Feather Super Pro blades better. Over the last year or two, some of my DE blade preferences have changed, so this will be an interesting experiment.
Did you every notice that blade buffing with a Mongoose looks flat out cool? :git:

Hey Chris. I'm glad to see you're using the FB this month! It will be fun to follow your focus. It must be quite a change from your normal routine with the Parker SRX and Magic Shavettes. I started a shaving thread on another forum. I didn't get too many hits, but I was, however, surprised to learn that a few guys there shave with FBs.

Based on all your positive comments, I picked up a Parker SRX shavette. I plan to use it for an upcoming focus.

    Adjustable (Arko) August!!!

August 4 - Grand Blade Trials

    Razor - 1962 (H1) Gillette Slim (9)
    Blade - [IMG] (3)
Soap - Route 66 Sweeney Todd
    Brush - 30 DC LE
    Post - Alum

Third and final shave with the Rainbow and I'm back to the Route 66 after last night's experiment with the best soap from Flat Lick, KY. Well, it's the only soap from Flat Lick, so there's that, but hey....it's from Flat Lick, and I just like saying that. Anyway, Slim is on 9, Rainbow is ready to roll and the LE brush and R66 have the lather in stupendous shape.

When I first shaved with this blade on 3 I mentioned that it was not a sharp blade. Not horribly dull, but the expectation was it would improve and maybe even really shine at the full aggression of the Slim. Well, that didn't happen but.....I can't complain. Nice DFS but the blade feels a bit draggy and just a bit rough in the wide open Slim. Last night's shave, in spite of the crappy lather, felt better and produced as good a shave. The blade seems to work best on the middle setting, so.....an average blade for an average razor I suppose. Gap wise, that is.

This isn't a blade I would stock up on. Again, if I found myself wherever in the world this blade is readily available, I wouldn't be upset to use it while there. I just don't see any reason to add it to my rotation in any way since there are better options available. Overall grade would be a C. Maybe C+ just because it didn't draw blood or leave major irritation. And we all know what C is. Average.

Speaking of average or worse blades, the march of the Dorcos begins tomorrow, including the cheapo version from the dollar stores.

The weekend is upon us, for those of you who have a weekend. Hope it's a great one!

Let's leave blade buffing with a straight razor, though, to Neal!

Ah!...busy corrupting the musical youths! You playing honky tonks yet? I think you will like the SRX once you find the angle. The added mass of all steel design really makes it glide.

Thanks. I expect it to be more intuitive (and maybe more forgiving) than my Feather AC shavette. As part of my future focus, I'll load it up with some of my newly acquired GSB's in your honor!
