Two arrived yesterday. Both are project razors. Both, more than I usually pay for a razor. Top: Geo. Wostenholm & Sons. Pipe Razor. 13/16th. Wedge Unknown age. $17.55 Bottom: Wade & Butcher. Sheffield England. 11/16th. 1/4 Hollow. $15.00
Art Razor (per the box's dotted tagline)...."Where we make razors 'soundly' and 'carefully' and 'functionality'".....um......'functionally'? Eez no problem. My Ukrainian isnt too gut so who am I to split hairs?
Even if the blade was not in good shape (which it looks like it is), it would be a good buy just for the scales.
Quality razor at a great price. Nice job, Jim! A very decent deal, to say the least. Now if you can score one of THESE for $13.00—then you know you're living a blessed life.
One just arrived, this afternoon. It just needs a little cleaning and honing and it should sparkle. I have a couple of others, by this manufacturer, and they are very well made razors. Razor- "SPIKE" by Union Cutlery 5/8th near wedge. Olean NY. $4.99
Well it is official... I have gone off the deep end. It has been 3 weeks that I received my 1st 2 straight razors, thanks to Kevin. As of this afternoon... I have 7 razors and have 2 more on the way. Here are the 3 I received today... all shave ready and the Dubl Duck Kevin did a little work on it for me. I will post the other 2 on Monday as I had them shipped to my office, to avoid the prying eyes of my lovely wife.
Here is this month's auction acquisitions. All total, I spent a little over $100 between the auction and the shipping. Left side from top down: -Union Cutlery Olean NY Spike -Howe Robinson DOL-FIN - Boker Red Injun 101 Right side: - Krusius Bros - Geneva Cutlery - L'Aiglon Le Champion Its nice to have won some vintage razors where every other razor wasn't rusted pitted junk
Today's catch was a nicely preserved razor from Union Cutlery. It only needs a little cleaning, and some stone work. Razor- "Spike" Union Cutlery. Olean NY.
A buddy asked me if I still shaved with straight razors. I said sure. Then he said I found this in an old box of junk and thought you might like it. He would not take any money for it.
