One of my favorites: old 'fancy' stubtail from William Greaves & Sons. A heavily-mentholated shave today!
Today's shave was with a Laser sharp Japanese razor. I had a very smooth 2 pass shave, that left me BDBS. Zero issues. Still loving these Japanese Razors. Razor- Japanese "Feon 172" Pure Steel Made. I Have Honed a Number of those Gong Razors..They were All 1/2 Hollow Grinds..It Wasn't Uncommon for the Term Extra Full Hollow to be Used as a Sales or Populist Thing..I have Actually Seen Very Few True Extra Hollow Grinds..I Have One & its Thin as Paper from Below the Spine to the Edge of the Blade..Its as Light as a Feather..Its Like a Letter Opener..I Would Never Sell it.. Billy..
That's a beauty, of a Gong. I have couple of covered tangs, and yes, they are very light. They almost feel like a toy in my hands.
Its NOT a Gong..Its a Very Rare Gail Solingen that was Made for the Upper End Spanish Market.. Billy..
My peepers are playing tricks on me. I guess I really can't believe my lying eyes. . It's a very nice looking razor.
This one definitely does take a great edge, even with the wear on it. The shave was like cutting through warm butter.
I have not found a Japanese Straight that would not take a great edge .My Feon leaves me Dolphin smooth every time .
My experience is the same, I have a Feon 172 that takes and keeps a very smooth and very sharp edge. It is even smooth off my Shapton glass 16k finisher.

Wanted to use a traditional kamisori (traditional), but got lazy on my day off. 'Settled' for a nice 'western-style' Japanese SR, this FON 'Golden Star' 13/16." Wonderful razor. ..
Thanks, George. It cleaned up really nice and appeared to have very little use. These American made straights are a real bargain. Shhhh, don't tell anyone
Tonight's shave was with a plain yet superb razor. I didn't polish this one up much, just left it antiqued looking. It is in good enough condition to take a good shine, but I like some character. I had a very smooth 2 pass shave, that left me near BBS. Zero issues, just smoothness. This is one of my favorite brand of razor, I have several. It's well made, and holds a very keen edge.
